This is a YouTube video titled "The truth about know like and trust" containing a monologue by Beverley Simpson recorded in October 2024. Beverley discusses the common business concept of "know, like, and trust," challenging typical approaches to building these elements in order to scale a profitable business. She emphasizes transparency, shifting perspectives, and providing value as more effective strategies than relying on personal commonalities or forced authenticity.
So is it that you can't understand the concept that building no like and trust is the worst way to start and scale a profitable business? Or is it that I misspelled trust and just assumed that you would know what this word was? Either way, we know what happens when you assume things. So with that said, I'll just address those First I just felt trust and you know, I believe in 70 perfect and I knew that you were either gonna get it or not get it. So let's just say we cleared that up now and then let's go back to the actual concept of what I was trying to address, which is that focusing on no like and trust in the way that people typically teach it is actually preventing you from scaling your business because people aren't buying from you because you went to the same high school you eat tacos on Tuesdays. Think about who loves you the most. Parents, Your partners, your children. They're likely not going to be your number one buyers and doesn't mean they don't love you and doesn't mean they don't support you. But I get it. Everyone is telling you that's how people make a buying decision. If you've ever worked in a gym before, you've likely had a point of sale client or maybe you've gone to a doctor that was recommended or had some type of service based experience without you knowing whether or not this person needs talk about dudes. Plus, if you continue to focus on building a link and trust in an effort to be authentic, you likely, in my opinion, are running the risk of actually sacrificing transparency at the risk of authenticity, which doesn't seem congruent, right? And the truth of the matter is people who like entertainment stuff and lifestyle stuff and relationship stuff, they're going to continue to watch more of that. This idea of lean in based on commonality and then maybe they'll be interested in your stuff has usually been more work than just being transparent from this is why we build connection and add value by shifting perspective, getting results in advance and then creating a clear pathway and invitation to invite people to say yes to themselves.
