This is a YouTube video titled "Uncovering the Mystery Behind Visual Design Critiques" containing a discussion between two speakers about the challenges of articulating why certain visual designs feel off or cluttered, using analogies from fitness and client-designer interactions. The content focuses on understanding and expressing design critiques.
Give my experience to give context to the question. Because sometimes, which I've shared with you, is that, like, I don't know that something's off or why, or let me rephrase, I don't know why it's off or why I don't like it. I just know that it's visually, like, cluttered. I'll say things like that. I'll be like, this is off. This is cluttered. This looks and feels amateur. But then I don't know why. Does that make sense?
I can go to the gym and, you know, I can run through a workout and not see results and not know why, but I'm not a professional. And the other side of it is being a designer or a photographer and having a client come to you and say, can you make that pop? Like, the amount of time like that is a running joke amongst designers is like, what does that even mean? So you're not alone and not having developed that, like, language around it.
