This is a YouTube video titled "Uncovering the Surprising Truth About Proper Squat Form" containing a monologue or single-speaker discussion from June 14, 2023, focused on biomechanics and technique related to squats and other big lifts, explaining how body proportions affect lifting form and safety.
So it really affects an entire chain when you start seeing certain proportions and how they apply to big lifts. And the squat is a really notorious one for long legs. Shallow depth, poor ankle mobility and you get the big hinge. So it's a lot of lower back as they squat down. The thing about the big lifts as a whole, overhead press squat deadlift especially is that the body is going to conform. However it conforms, because in order to make the lift successful, I mean, nine, nine out of ten times, the bar is going to travel in a fairly straight line and it's going to stay within your center of mass, which is right over the middle of your foot. So as that bar does that, it's about what our body is sort of doing to conform to that. And are we going to do that safely and squarely, or are we going to do that in a way that, you know, leaves a lot of muscles or a lot of joints mobility hanging out to dry? And those compensations are usually what we see, at least with the, in the long lifters along levers example that I just gave there.
