This is a YouTube video titled "Uncovering the Surprising Truth About Weight Training for Women" featuring Beverley Simpson sharing her personal experience and mindset shift regarding weight training, discussing her initial fears and how she gained confidence through the practice. The content is a monologue or personal narrative focused on fitness and empowerment.
So when I very first started working out, I was very, like, not even. It was before I started working out, when I was still, like, in my out of shape kind of area. I was so scared of weight training. I was so scared of weight training that, like, it was going to make me bulky. I'm already such a tomboy. I don't want to look like a man. Like, these were the things that I would say all the time. So it blows. It kind of like blows my mind out that that used to be my mentality. But what it was is what got me started. I started looking up and following, like, bodybuilders online. Now, I never became a bodybuilder. It was never my jam. But I was introduced to weight training through that. And that was when I was like, oh, look at these beautiful, amazing fit women. They all weight train. There's gotta be something to this. So that was what kind of sparked it. And then from there, just the feeling of getting stronger is that it gave me a very similar feeling to jiu jitsu and the confidence and, like, I wonder if I can lift this weight or like, that kind of thing. And it really, really gave me that confidence boost.
