This is a YouTube video titled "Uncovering the Truth About Imposter Syndrome in Public Speaking" containing a monologue by Beverley Simpson recorded on June 5, 2023. Beverley discusses the concept of imposter syndrome in the context of public speaking, particularly addressing how one might feel when speaking to different audiences with varying levels of expertise.
Now I could completely see and I would question if I was going in to speak to an audience on a topic, maybe I was going in to speak to a group of PhDs communication who have studied communication. And I'm not. That would probably be inappropriate. Hey, rightfully so. And if I had imposter syndrome, it's probably relevant in that case. But if I'm going to speak to a group of new coaches who do maybe group fitness coaching, and I'm talking about their communication skills, this is something that I don't know everything about communication and speaking. I don't have a PhD on this stuff, but I know far more than they know. And that's where the value is in remembering that I've got something to offer them because they're at a different place on this ladder than I am.
