This is a YouTube video titled "Understanding Metabolic Syndrome and Hormonal Imbalance" containing a discussion between two speakers about hormonal issues related to metabolic syndrome, PCOS, and menopause. The conversation explores symptoms, diagnosis criteria, and hormonal changes in women across different life stages. The speakers are not named Beverley Simpson.
It's a whole metabolic syndrome. So again, we have really high testosterone, but we also will have dysregulated estrogen and progesterone. So if we do have some estrogen dominance along with that, we'll have a lot of painful periods. We can have even more symptoms like pcos. There may even be underlying endometriosis that makes things really worse. So, you know, never say never in the case of what these women are experiencing. Got it.
Now, just also out of curiosity, you know, sometimes.
Sometimes a lot of the.
The hormonal shifts that you're talking about in PCOS can sometimes be present with women as they age and they go into perimenopause and also menopause.
So curious.
Like, is it the cystic component that separates it?
Like, how do you know? How will one know what's where the level of complexity is. So PCOS is generally diagnosed in women of childbearing age. So when we start reaching menopause and perimenopause, we're kind of out of that diagnostic criteria. But also what sets them apart is the hyper androgenism. When you're going through perimenopause, your testosterone is usually lowering. When you're going through menopause, all of that is pretty much bottoming out like the estrogen and progesterone does. So you wouldn't really have as much high elevated testosterone levels either. Got it, Got it.
