One of my mentors told this story, and she's like, this is how messed up beliefs are. She's like, so there's a woman, and every year at Christmas, they take the ham, and the woman cuts off both ends of the ham, and she puts it in the pan and throws it in the thing in the oven. One Christmas, her husband's like, why are you wasting the ends of the ham? She's like, I don't know, because my mom always did that. He's like, that just seems weird. So she calls the mother. She's like, mom, why do we cut off both ends of the ham? And her mom says, well, I don't know, because my mom always used to do that. So that's what I do. So then they call the grandmother, and the grandmother's like, oh, don't be stupid. The reason I cut off the ends of the ham was because I didn't have a pot big enough for it. But. And it's such a simple but beautiful story of how the stuff we carry around isn't even ours, but we'll just do it.
