This is a YouTube video titled "What is the difference between a textbook, and a professional book" containing a monologue or talk by Beverley Simpson recorded in May 2024. Beverley discusses the blurred lines between professional and textbook materials, using nutrition curriculum and certification requirements as an example.
Yeah. I mean, the line between professional and text is very murky. Like, there really isn't much of one other than a textbook will typically be mapped to a specific course. Like, what are the course requirements? And that those course requirements might be tied to either a certification or licensure. So if you look at. I'll use nutrition as an example, because it's one of my subject areas. A lot of nutrition curriculums in the universities will be mapped to what is the requirements for the exam for the Dietetic Board certification? So then that'll kind of like, all right, schools will start from the examination.
