This is a YouTube video titled "Why High Achievers Never Feel Enough: A Look into Success and Self Worth" featuring Beverley Simpson discussing the psychological challenges high achievers face, particularly the cycle of constantly raising goals and the importance of self-worth independent of achievements. The content is a monologue or talk focused on personal growth and mindset.
The high achiever's trap is that we're constantly chasing that bar, like you said, right? But then we raise the bar because the belief is if we hit the bar, then we're going to feel a certain way. Like, the goal is never about the goal, every single one of us underneath it. The goal is how we think we're going to feel when we hit the goal. But what happens with high achievers is they get to the goal, they're like, so they raise the bar again, and they're constantly working from this place of not enough, but believing, well, if I just achieve more, more success, more clients, more money, better body, whatever it is, then I will finally feel better. But this is all running at an unconscious level. Most people don't even realize that this is happening. And it's when you start to put this down and you have to receive from yourself that you get to feel proud, when you accomplish something, that you get to rest, that you get to create ease. And when you face the parts of yourself that realize like, oh, wow, like, my worthiness is not dependent on me achieving anything in my life. And you get to be worthy as you are today. And then you get to build and grow and still achieve and be ambitious and driven. I still very much am. But it's not coming from this unhealthy part of me that is trying to get me to that place of feeling better, working from a healed and whole place now. And that's a completely different energy.
