Business Brain Episode 647 for Casual Friday, May 9th. Tear the tags off your mattresses. Day 2025 Greetings, folks, and welcome to Business Brain, the show where we take some ideas, we use them to tune our business brains so that we can each keep on living those charmed lives that we value so much. Our sponsors for this episode include MacAudio.com brain where you can go to get this awesome app called Sound Source that lets you route audio to different speakers. Like, you can have audio from one app. Like, you know, from Zoom going to your headphones and from your Spotify app going to your speakers. And you can adjust the volume and you can even do real time effects. That's MacAudio.com brain and then square.com go brain. All these links are in the show notes. You can get up to 200 bucks off of Square hardware when you sign up at that link. We'll talk more about those in a little bit. For now here with no more tags on my mattresses in Durham, New Hampshire, I'm Dave Hamilton.
I'm out here in Lafayette, California. I'm Shannon Jean. I think I've ripped my tags off ages ago. Yeah, I'm a big rule breaker, right? But I don't like. I don't like to. I don't like to be told what to do.
That's right.
That's for sure.
As long as you're not in the mattress selling business, I think you're allowed.
To take them off no matter what. Pillows, too. My wife gets upset at me because when I rip them off, tear it open and like, what happened? It opens it up and oh, my goodness, that's ridiculous.
It's like drinking tea with the bags opened up. It's no fun.
Oh, that's no good. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But hey, I'm glad we're here for Friday. AI guy. I said it wrong.
Friday I. Friday, I'm saying it.
Yeah, yeah, I got to keep doing it. But did we. I think we had. Did you have something else we wanted to chat about before we tipped him? We have a question.
Well, no, we had a. We had a. We had a, a question on YouTube. That is for Friday I. Oh, it was from Rs56 on YouTub. Hello, gentlemen. Wait, where are the gentlemen who said about my father? He says, I discovered your teachings several weeks ago. As a longtime serial entrepreneur who is riddled with adhd, I found your insights incredibly enlightening, answering many questions I've wrestled with over the years. As much as Shannon and I seem to think alike, I Know he probably wouldn't love hearing this, but I can't help thinking I wish I had found you all a long time ago.
Oh no, that's opposite you're supposed to say.
A question recently hit me. He says, with AI now handling about 95% of my searches and data retrieval, I rarely even see sponsored ads anymore. All the pay per click stuff like Google AdWords or Microsoft stuff. As entrepreneurs, I assume someone will eventually figure out how to monetize AI driven searches. What do you see as the future of pay per click and advertising? I know us guys are the ones who always find these solutions. What are your thoughts?
Oh, that's a great question.
It is changing things. I was listening. I think I mentioned it last week on Guy Kawasaki has his podcast called Remarkable People and he happened to mention during an episode that he has a Chrome plugin that he, that takes anything he types in the Chrome bar, which would normally go and search Google it immediately funnels it in and sets it as a prompt in a new ChatGPT session. So that it's just like my son's trick about, you know, having Chat GPT replace the Safari icon on his on his home screen, which I think I shared on this show.
Did I share that? You did, yeah. Okay.
Yeah, just for the same reason to change those habits because you get that Chat GPT thing going. So. But he, but Rs56 is right. Like this, this changes paid search or paid.
It does, but now the difference is I've never. Well, I pay them other ways, but I'm paying ChatGPT monthly.
I never paid Google a dime.
Never did. Now I clicked on their stuff, of course. But now everything I can't, I do everything I can not to go use Google to search, I used. I always jump into ChatGPT. It's better for me, keeps better history and it doesn't try to pitch me 10, you know, 10 ads on the page yet. Yeah, yet. But I think what you paid, I would even pay more.
Right.
I don't want to, you know, Sam Altman, not listening. But you know, certainly I don't pay the 200 doll version, but you know, 20 bucks a month.
I think the only reason you and I don't pay the $200 version is we haven't done something to prove to us how valuable it is. And I think have an operator, whichever one of the, whichever one of us does it first, the other guy is going to be exactly a week behind because we're going to come talk about it on, on Friday. I, and, and Then it's going to be off to the races because. I agree. I, yeah. In fact, out there, send us an email if you, if you're using an operator with chat GPT on the 200amonth plan, send us an email feedback businessbrain show and I want to know what you're doing with it. Because all I need is the right example to trigger something and be like, that's it, I'm in.
That's a good point.
Yeah.
Yep. Yeah. So it is an interesting idea. You know, question. I don't know the answer to it yet, but it's, it's. Something's coming. You know, they're gonna have, I know they're, they just introduced shopping now. I don't know if those are affiliate links or paid links.
Right.
So they're gonna have some shopping stuff in there.
I actually that was my second thing was that Chat GBT is adding Shopify to chat. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So do you have to turn that on or is it not in there for everybody?
No, I think it's gonna be as I understood it, it's gonna be in the results.
Wow, that's gonna be amazing. That's gonna be a big deal.
Yeah. So, but you're right. Maybe they earn an affiliate, you know, kickback or whatever it is, you know, something and then that's all it takes. Yeah, yeah, exactly.
That could be. It could be. It's interesting. I, I would say I'm using it. My, my tip this week is with Chat GPT, but it's basically I've created a Shannon GPT and ask the chat Ask GPT. Hey, how do I create my own GPT with about all. With my content? And so I, I over yet you hit some limits, so you have to kind of space it out. But I've, I uploaded about 140 pages of content that I have written.
Okay.
Over primarily having to do with entrepreneurship, business ownership, just like stuff we've talked about here. And now when I go to the, that my prior, my GPT, it answers me as I would answer the question. So it's not giving me as generic. It uses my tone, it uses the language that I like to use and I find that I'm able to, I don't have to rewrite as many things and it helps me, you know, I still have to prompt a few questions, you know, to kind of narrow down what I'm trying to get out of it.
Yep.
But it's, it's been really helpful and if you're, I, I think everybody should have their own GPT and link it to something, whether it's, I mean, we have 10.
What was the prompt that you gave it? Was it just asking it, how do I create a GPT with my own content? And then it walks you through that.
Yeah, I said, hey, the prompt was.
Because I want to put the prompt in the show notes. Yeah, yeah.
I said, I want to talk and I want you to talk and think like I do. If I upload 100 plus Word documents that I have written, can you create a GPT that knows how I write and what my content is about? And it said, yes, let's do it. I'll anodize your writing style, tone, structure and voice, extract your core themes, framework philosophies and repeat messaging. I'll create a style and content guide that reflects how you think and talk and to help you to create other. And then it walks you through how to create the GPT. It gives you the prompt to create the GPT and it says paste it. Cut and paste this here.
Is there any private information in that particular chat? If not, can you click Share in the upper right and give me the link that I'll put in the show notes?
Yeah, there's all kinds of private stuff.
There is private stuff in that chat. Okay. I didn't know if you, if you stopped right there or not. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Well, I can give you copy, copy.
That first prompt so that I have it verbatim and we'll put it directly in the show notes.
Yeah, I will say, yeah, I'll do that. And I can give you this, the instruction, the system prompt it gave me.
Okay. Oh, yeah.
Based on all this stuff, it talks, it even mentions Charmed Life. That's pretty good.
Yeah, it's good.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. And so I, I, if you're in the any sort of, I mean, if I couldn't imagine, I mean, like with Tech Restore or with Rescue Systems or some of the other companies, I mean, we had so much content.
Yes.
That we would, could have converted to this, whether it was for customer or. I mean, it's hard to even fathom that what you couldn't use it for.
It's a game changer.
It is a game changer. So I would highly recommend that you create your own custom GPT for your business, for your personality, for whatever.
Amazing. I love it. And we'll have those prompts, the text of those in the show notes for sure. Yeah. All right, before we get to anything else, I want to talk about our sponsors because, well, as we know, running A business is like juggling chainsaws on a unicycle during a tax audit, all while smiling. But somehow, every time I go to Tideline and Tap to pay or grab a bite over at Bame Restaurant, I am reminded that with our sponsor Square, it doesn't have to feel that way. Seriously, in the last month alone, I've used Square at Tideline and Bombay and the Stone Church and Tim's drunken Sauces and Rubs. And every time the checkout is so fast, it feels like I'm living that charmed life we always talk about here on the show. Square isn't just a sleek card reader. It is the full suite, point of sale, online store inventory, customer insights. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if it started offering life advice or helping me with my fantasy football picks. Next entrepreneurs, this one's for you. Streamline your chaos. Stop chasing your tail and start serving your customers with something that actually works. Square keeps up so you don't have to slow down. Get everything you need to run and grow your business without any long term commitments. And why wait? Right now you can get up to 200 off square hardware at square.com go brain that's s q U-A-R-E.com g o/b r a I n square.com go brain. Run your business smarter with Square and get started today. All right. And you know what's underrated? Silence. Or at least the power to control the noise. And that's why I use and love an app called Sound Source from Rogue Amoeba. Because I'm not just podcast, I'm conducting a symphony of apps all screaming for my attention and Sound Source. Well, it's my baton. This tiny but mighty menu bar app lets me dial in the volume on an app by app basis. Choose where the output volume from any app goes. So if I want something to go to my, you know, zoom to my headphones and music to my speakers or the opposite, whatever, and add real time effects. All without opening 12 system preference panes and sacrificing a goat to the macOS gods. That's what sound source does. You want Spotify quieter than Safari? Done. Want to send Zoom to your headphones but YouTube to a speaker in another room so your cat can watch squirrels in stereo? Also done. So go to macaudio.com brain to try sound source and then you can save 20% with coupon code Brain. But only through the end of May. No subscriptions, just smart software you own. Get control, get calm, get back to building your empire. Our thanks To Rogue Amoeba for making sound source and for sponsoring this episode. All right, Shannon, so I. I had an idea here and I asked ChatGPT. I said, given what you know about me, please give me your top five examples of why I would want to Upgrade to the $200 per month chat GPT account. Prioritize them bringing me short term value.
I love it. Dude. What did it say? What did it say? We want to know.
Yeah, it said you could create custom GPTs for each business function. You manage multiple businesses and podcast each with unique workflows. With the team plan, you can create custom GPT. So this is the team plan, which is. Is only a little bit more per month than what I'm currently paying. But it started to, you know, show me that. It said use file uploads with memory. So your use of filemaker scripts, spreadsheets, docker setups, marketing docs, programming often spans sessions. And the team plan, again, which is only a few dollars more per month, gives you persistent memory per workspace. So it gave me some of this stuff.
Okay, okay.
Which I thought was fine, and I said, okay, but it seems like we might be missing something. Give me examples about operator ideas that I could implement that could truly be their own businesses. And it says you're right. And you're in a prime position to spin up a scalable SaaS or service business on top of Chat GPT's operator framework.
Of course you are.
Right. Of course I am. Well, I told it to sell me on this. Yeah, tell me what I want to hear. Here are three operator based businesses, business ideas that could realistically stand on their own. An ad pitch bot. Custom podcast sponsorship pitch generator. It's a SaaS for podcast networks and indie shows. What it does, podcast creators upload basic show data and select from sponsor verticals. The operator builds custom ad pitch emails, PDF1 sheets and even rebuttal handling scripts includes optional follow up tracking and version control. All right, a guest prep AI automated interview prep for podcasters and journalists. Input a guest name. Yep, yep. And then a sponsor check. Oh, this is interesting. Sponsorship delivery and compliance tracker for networks. So it could work, right? To make sure that the reads are in the podcast flag. Ms. Reads.
That's kind of cool.
That's pretty cool. I mean, there are people selling this and they would charge me more than 200 bucks a month just for access to it.
Of course they would. Yeah.
Huh.
Yeah.
Sponsor check that. I mean, and this is like. This literally took me two minutes.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Of course it's always that way. In two minutes I had this and I asked it. It's always that way. It's insane. I absolutely love it. And I go back to the my prediction. AI is not going to take your job. Someone using AI is going to take your job. Oh yeah, there's a great email out today by the CEO of Fiverr. If you don't know what Fiverr is, they were a low cost services mainly GR or programming or building stuff video and they successful for years. I used them probably maybe 10 years ago I was using them and it started out everything was five bucks but of course that everything went up. But his whole concept is that hey, we need to be ready for this. The things that were easy are going to be gone.
Yes.
The harder problems are going to be used with AI and then we, we need to solve for impossible is what he said.
Wow.
It's really good. If you look at. I'm sure if you. Well, I don't want to tell you to use a search, but it' I saw it up on X. I don't want to say go to Google and search it and I don't really care but if you search for the Fiverr CEO, I, I'll, I'll get the link and, and post it in the show notes at BusinessBrain show and I think.
I, I think I found it.
Got it. Yeah. Okay, great.
Yeah. AI is coming for your job from the fiber CEO. Yep.
Found it.
Right.
You need to listen to this guy. They disrupted the whole world when they launched and brought global talent and made it like, oh, I could spend 99 or I could spend.
I think, I think it's almost time for your meeting, Shannon.
Yeah, it is. I hear my phone going I could spend 50 bucks to develop a logo instead of 5,000 or 500, you know. So. Yeah, it's awesome.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Fantastic. I love it. I love.
