A short coaching video by Cameron Herold arguing that CEOs and COOs are typically poor at delegation because they lack training. Herold urges leaders to delegate tasks (even to less-skilled employees like "Bob") and then coach/train them to build skill, confidence, and competence. He promotes his "Invest in Your Leaders" course and the CEO Alliance as solutions and frames delegation as a core module in that training.

Alright, so one of the number one modules in my invest in your leaders course, and it's one of the number one modules for a reason, is delegation. We all delegate stuff and almost all of us as CEOs and COOs have had no experience, no training on how to properly delegate to get the best possible result for the least amount of money in the least amount of time, with the least amount of frustration for you and the least amount of frustration for your team. So it's critical to delegate. And one of the things that I've heard CEOs talk about, and COOs as well, oh, I can't delegate to Bob because he does have the skills. That's the point. Delegate it to Bob and then coach them and train them, Give them the skills, give them the confidence, give them the competence to actually do that work. But the to do list that we each have does not have our name on it. It's stuff that needs to get done by them. It's why investing in your people, putting them into the investor leaders course, putting them into the CEO alliance is critical. But as CEOs and COOs, you need to go through the invest in your leaders course to learn delegation. As one of the 12.
