A short talk by Cameron Herold urging company leaders to closely examine and eliminate small, wasteful expenses and to prioritize high-performing employees. Herold argues that many minor charges accumulate into significant lost resources that could instead fund fair pay and better care for employees; he also emphasizes firing non-performing or culturally harmful employees so leaders can focus on A- and B-players.

The only way to truly get rid of the expenses is to cancel all of your credit cards and reissue brand new credit card numbers. There's so much waste inside of companies because we don't know how to examine it. We don't even know what some of these charges are. Nobody's really looking at it. And when I was a kid, my dad used to say, it's like, you know, 20 bucks here, 20 bucks there, sooner or later it's real money. I'm like, Dad, 20 bucks is real money. I didn't understand how 20 plus 20 was going to become real money. When like. And I look at companies today, I'm like, I don't understand why you don't care about all these little things. Because all those little things add up to not paying people what they should get paid. All these little things add up to not being able to take care of people. If we have employees in our companies that are not performing or that are cultural cancers, we have to fire them. Because you want to spend your time with your A players. If your A players are resources and the D players are workhorses, spend time with your A's and B's so that you don't spend time with your C's.
