A short coaching anecdote by Cameron Herold where he guides a CEO through imagining incrementally better customer service (from 8/10 up to an imaginative 12/10). The exercise illustrates "thinking bigger" — pushing beyond an ideal 10 to stimulate expansive, creative goals for service excellence.

I did an exercise yesterday with a CEO that I was coaching, and I said, if we were talking about your customer service, tell me what an 8 out of 10 customer service is. So he described an 8 out of 10. I'm like, okay, what would a 9 be? So he described a 9 out of 10. I'm like right, really go for it. Now, what would a 10 out of 10 customer service be in your industry? And he really described that 10 out of 10. And then I said, what would an 11 be? And he kind of laughed, and I'm like, yeah, what would an 11 like? You just told me a 10. What would an 11 out of 10 be? So he gave me that. I'm like, all right, let's go really crazy. And what would a 12 out of 10 customer service be? Right. We've all had that kind of 10 out of 10 experience, but thinking bigger is forcing yourself to think bigger every day.
