Short excerpt of a YouTube podcast (Cameron Herold) where speakers discuss the isolation many COOs experience and how a peer community/membership provides practical support, idea‑bouncing, accountability, and follow-up. The clip emphasizes real-world, conversational peer help (airport chats, follow-up calls).
Most the OOs don't know other COOs, and so they don't have somebody to go and bounce ideas off of. They don't have anybody that understands what they're doing in their personal life or their professional life. And so for them to find a space is really amazing.
Do you have people that you can turn to?
I pick it up and I talk to our members. I. I have sat at airports next to our members and talked about, you know, where I'm stuck and what I need to do and gotten their feedback and, you know, had them tell me, okay, and I'm going to call you on Monday and make sure you actually did this. And then they follow up. So I absolutely get all of the benefits of membership.
I never really understood how lonely coos were. I knew entrepreneurs were often lonely and felt by themselves, but then they had groups like YPO and vistage and EO and Genius Network, and there are all these amazing groups for entrepreneurs. But I didn't realize the CEO was as lonely and felt as scared. I knew they felt like imposters, and we worked really hard with them around that, but that was a really big side benefit.
