This is a short YouTube interview (uploaded by Cameron Herold on March 28, 2018) in which Guy Berry, COO of Redirect Health, describes key takeaways from a COO Alliance conference. He emphasizes the value of stepping away from daily work to hear other companies' ideas, and recounts a memorable lesson from a speaker named Michael about accountability in leadership — replacing noncommittal "sure" with the clearer, accountable phrase "yes, I got it."

For me, Michael was the biggest piece. I mean, there's a lot of different things that I took and I think for this, for this conference, especially just getting out of my emails and my daily stuff and then hearing other companies, other things, then start going, oh, man, I thought about this, like, four months ago, and I haven't done anything about it. And like, okay, I got to tackle this. And just kind of reminds me of things that I need to get on and jump on. And so that's always bonus time. And then with Michael, it was very interesting, is that when he said, you know, the sures, like the fu. To the entrepreneur, just say, yes, I got it. And. And I was like, oh, my gosh. I don't know how many meetings I've sat in where, like, Dave is pulling his hair out. And like, when people are like, okay, yeah, okay, and sure. And he's just like. Like he feels like nobody's accountable and that they're going to get it done. And so I text him, I was like, hey, I'll make sure our leadership team does a better job of not saying, sure, and says, yes, I got it. And he texts back and was like, yes, I got it is music to my ear.
