Today on Animal Expert, we are going to explain which animals inspired the fauna of Pandora. Let's start. 1. Tulkun these extraordinary creatures of great dimensions resemble humpback whales that measure 14 to 15 meters in length and weigh about 40 tons. Tulkun are not free from danger just like real life humpback whales, since humans who invade Pandora capture them to extract a substance in their brains that stops human aging. Unfortunately, many creatures on planet Earth are also captured for human benefit. 2. Mountain Banshee, known as Ikran in Na', Vi, is inspired by the dragons that appear in various stories of our planet. Dragons as described in stories and legends have not existed in reality. However, it is it is possible that the discovery of fossil remains of the order of the the Resaurids, which were large extinct vertebrates that conquered the skies, was the origin of the belief that there were animals similar to giant flying reptiles. 3. This is an animal similar to the Bengi, so it is also similar to dragons. Its name means last shadow in the language of the Na', vi, and it is a fierce predator that in turn is a great symbol in the culture of this clan. Its name is due to the fact that due to its hunting method, its shadow is literally the last thing its prey sees. 4. Tonator the tonator, or Palulan, is a fearsome creature that lives on Pandora, and its name in Na' VI means bearer of fear with a dry mouth. It is classified as the most ferocious terrestrial predator, so it can fight with large creatures. This animal from Avatar is a mix between a panther and a lion, capable of instilling fear in anyone. 5. Viper Wolf this small blue black creature is inspired by rhinos and wolves. It has a thin but powerful torso with six legs and three toes that allow it to travel long distances. It is presented as a gregarious animal that usually hunts in groups. 6. Hammerhead Titan this animal from Pandora is inspired by Brontotheres, animals distantly related to rhinos that became extinct millions of years ago. In the film, they are presented as creatures about 11 meters long with six legs and armor on their bodies that make them fearsome creatures for fighting. Akula another of the marine animals from Avatar is the Akula, a fierce and difficult creature to catch. This animal has been inspired by the Dunkleosteus genus, a group of armored fish that became extinct millions of years ago and that measured almost 9 meters. In addition, the head and the teeth of the tail are inspired by snakes and sharks, so as a whole, it represents a truly fearsome animal. 8. The ILU is a marine creature, very similar to the Plosaurs, which were marine animals that inhabited the earth millions of years ago. It is a long animal with six fins, four eyes, and a tail that is shaped like a rudder, quite similar to the one the real animal had. All these characteristics make it a very agile being. 9. Skin Wing this is the flying fish to which the warriors of the Metalina clan are linked to. It is characterized by having an elongated and thin shape similar to that of a torpedo, as well as having powerful jaws and large orange wings. The shape of its head and especially that of its jaw are reminiscent of that of the Gabule. However, it is possible that this animal was also inspired by large marine dinosaurs such as mesosaurs. 10. Deer orse Dire horses are animals that appear in the first of the two avatar installments. Characterized by their nectar eating habits and by bearing a certain resemblance to horses. They have long necks and small heads with two antennae. The size of the dire horse is roughly that of the largest horses on Earth. 11. Hepapod this avatar animal, also called Jerrick, is a beautiful herbivorous creature that inhabits several areas of Pandora. It is a very fragile species and is usually hunted by various predators. Its shape is similar to that of a gazelle or antelope, but with six legs. 12. Fan lizard in the Na' vi language it is known as Kenton and is a type of small flying reptile, omnivorous and nocturnal that is not very striking when it is still, but when it is agitated it displays wings that resemble a Chinese fan of the biolizant type that makes it a beautiful animal. It is inspired by the different types of lizards that we know on Earth, with a particularity of these wings that move like the blades of a helicopter.
