5 SEÑALES ⚠️ de que tu GATO NO ESTÁ BIEN 😿 | Cómo saber si un gato está enfermo

Veterinarian Carlos explains five warning signs your cat is sick: eye discharge, excessive drooling, vomiting, urinating outside the litter box, and coughing. Learn to spot these subtle health issues and know when to call the vet.
Your cat is warning you with these 5 warning signs, and you may not even realize it. That's why today I'm going to help you recognize them. Hi, I'm Carlos and I'm a veterinarian. Welcome to the Happy Pets and Families Channel. You know that I love helping you understand your cat better, but there are times when our feline companions send us messages that are very subtle and we can only recognize them if we have some experience. That's why today I've compiled the five signs that our feline companions send us most frequently when something is wrong, so that you too can know them and act more quickly. Since we've already talked about some of these topics on the channel, I'll leave them below in the description box and related videos will appear up here so that you can also delve a little deeper and recognize what's happening to your cat. Number one, eye discharge or discharge in our cat's eyes, the discharge that interests us or that indicates that something is wrong is that which is reddish or greenish and also has a slightly viscous appearance. This discharge occurs when something in our cat's eye is not working properly. It could be because it has conjunctivitis or also because it could have an ulcer. Also, pay close attention if our feline companion does not open its eye very much, if it has it half closed, and if, in addition, it is also producing this discharge very frequently. As I always say, the eye is a very delicate organ, and if your cat has this type of discharge, you have to take it to the vet as soon as possible. Excessive drooling. Okay. Sometimes our feline companions drool when they are very comfortable. When we are petting them and they are extremely comfortable, a small amount of saliva escapes that is transparent and very liquid. That is not something to worry about. You should be concerned when your cat's saliva, which is not kept inside its mouth, escapes in the form of threads. It is also a dark brownish color, very viscous, and stains the hair around its mouth. This could indicate that the cat has a problem, for example, with its gums, such as calcium virus disease. Pay special attention if, in addition to excessive drooling, your cat is sleepy or uncoordinated or does not want to move because many times this is an indication that it has been poisoned by something. So observe your cat carefully. If it goes. Number three. Vomiting. Many people tell me, oh, it's just that my cat throws up. No, my dear, no cat is a big vomiter. Cats shouldn't vomit if they're healthy. Let's make a small distinction. It's likely that if your cat eats a lot one day, then after the binge, it'll vomit. Well, that isolated vomiting doesn't mean anything. It's possible that it has a slightly irritated stomach, a little gastroenteritis, and that's it. It shouldn't get any worse. But the problem comes when we have feline companions who vomit frequently. And how frequent is that? It doesn't matter if it's once a week or once a month. Obviously, if you see that it's repeated vomiting and that it happens regularly in your cat, that should set off a red flag. If your cat suddenly starts vomiting and vomits three, four or five times in one day, it could mean that it has gastroenteritis and that it's quite serious. But again, as in the case of the previous one previously, if you see that your cat is incoordinated or also sleepy, this vomiting could indicate that it has been poisoned by something. But what if your cat is not vomiting very frequently during the day, but rather vomits today, vomits again in three days or vomits again in five days? In these cases, it is also somewhat concerning because it is not an isolated vomiting. It is vomiting that is occurring frequently in your feline companion. And sometimes some serious illnesses, such as kidney problems or pancreatic problems, cause precisely that vomiting. Number four. My cat urinates outside the litter box. Okay, let's separate two types of cats that urinate outside the litter box. The first one is the one that occurs by marking. Marking does not mean that the cat urinates on its own, but rather that it makes a kind of spray by spreading a little of its urine on a surface. This marking can occur either due to stress or related to heat or territoriality. This is another topic, even if you have it that paying a little attention is not what I came to talk about today. What I am referring to is when our feline companion rarely pees inside their litter box and instead is so scattered around our house, or for example, always pees inside the shower tray most of the time. When our feline companions pee outside the litter box and it is not marking. And this pee, in addition is small in different locations around the house, it has to do with a health problem. And pay special attention if your cat's urine, instead of being yellow or yellowish, is a reddish, brownish or even burgundy color. This means that our feline companion is bleeding in the bladder. He has hemorrhage that comes out through his urine. All of these signs can be indicative of flood. The feline urinary tract disease of the lower tract and which has a lot of possible causes that I have already talked about on the channel. I want you to watch this video because many cats suffer from it. So I recommend you watch it. I'll leave it here and in the description box, number five. Coughs your cat coughs. This is the point that prompted me to make this video. Well, if you follow us, you know that we recently made a video on the channel about feline asthma and our cat's coughs. Many people in the comments of that video asked me how normal it was for a cat to cough, how often they should be concerned, and that's why I identified that coughing is one of those red flags, one of those alarms that our cats send us when something is wrong. Let's see, the issue of a cat coughing is always worrisome. Obviously, it's not the same for your cat to cough once and never hear it cough again, which in that case could be a very occasional thing, than for you to hear your cat cough frequently again, as I said with vomiting. If you identify that your cat coughs once or twice a week, or, maybe, I don't know, once a month, it's possible that your cat coughs more than you think. Because as you know, our feline companions are experts at hiding what's happening to them. It's possible that when you are away from home, your cat also coughs and you don't recognize those coughs and say, well, he doesn't cough that much. Maybe your cat coughs every day and since you're not home to check, you don't know it. What I mean is that if your cat coughs frequently, even if it's very spaced out over time, it's already something that should make us worry to say, oh, maybe something's going on. It's also possible that you don't know that your cat is coughing. As I told you in the asthma video. If you want to know how to identify how cats cough, watch that video, because they don't cough the same way people do. So you can identify it in your feline companion. With all this coughing stuff out there, my personal advice is that if you see your cat coughing more than once, even if you think it's very infrequent, take them to the vet for a good health check up and if possible, record it on video so your vet can see it. These are the most important signs. But of course, if you notice that your cat repeats a behavior very frequently or that they suddenly start doing something to your cat that you haven't seen before. In all of those cases, they can also be warning signs and you should tell your vet, I hope that none of the things I just told you are happening to your cat, but at least if they are happening, you can already identify them. Let me know in the comments if, thanks to these warning signs indicate that you have recognized something that was happening to your feline companion and have put a remedy to it. That's why today I recognized very. They leak a little saliva that's not very liquid. Okay. That probably doesn't give you any warnings, like I said before. Right. That should tell us. That should make us turn on the. My cat urinates outside the litter box. Well, they can also do it outside the litter box because it's not properly placed in the litter box and so on, but especially if they're small amounts. Okay. And that has a lot of possible causes that I've already told you about, of course, about feline asthma and about coughs. Feline asthma. And now they're going to send you 800,000 videos of cats coughing. Well, luckily, because of the YouTube comments, you can't send videos once a month. Right. Well, that's it. My personal advice is.
