50 PELIGROS EN CASA cuando vives CON UN GATO ⚠️🙀

This is a YouTube video titled "50 PELIGROS EN CASA cuando vives CON UN GATO ⚠️🙀" created in September 2024. The content features a veterinarian named Carlos who provides an extensive and detailed monologue about various household dangers that cats may face, including toxic substances, physical hazards, and unsafe foods. The video also includes some interaction with another speaker, but the main focus is on Carlos's informative talk about cat safety in the home environment.
Foreign hi, I'm Carlos and I'm a veterinarian. Welcome to the Happy Pets and Families Channel. Today I'm going to tell you about 50 dangers in your home when you live with a cat. For example, always check the closets before leaving the house because you could lock your cat inside. Come on, hurry up. Also, there can be very dangerous things inside the closet, such as naphthalene, which is part of many mothballs and is very toxic to your cat. And now let's move on to a classic. A very important danger in our home is open windows, especially if they are not protected. That's why you should always use nets or mosquito nets, otherwise your cat won't be able to look out safely. But your windows are not safe even if you put them on tilt and turn. There are many cats that try to get out through the small gap that is left, and when they jump, they get caught either by their paws or by the middle of their body, which can be a disastrous situation. I'm telling you this because it happened to my parents with their cat Milu, who once tried to climb out the window, swung it and got his back leg caught, causing a big cut. Luckily, he didn't break his leg. Cupboards can be full of a lot of things that are dangerous for our cats. So if your cat is one of those who manages to open them, make sure to put a baby proof device on them. At least on those cupboards that contain very dangerous things, such as cleaning products. And speaking of cleaning products, always close the lids tightly because your cat, while curious, might knock over a bottle and get his fur dirty. He could get poisoned when he grooms himself. And be very careful, especially if there is bleach, chlorine or bleach in your house. I don't know what it's called in your area because cats are particularly attracted to its smell and it's very likely that he will go there to sniff the bottle. In any case, any type of cleaning product you use should be rinsed very well because our cats are always moving around and it is very possible that they will come into contact with them, even if accidentally. And one place where many cleaning products are used is in the toilet. Always remember to put the toilet lid down because our cats love to drink water. And be very careful not to crush your cat when you move any furniture, because whenever there is any movement in the house, your cat is there, checking to see what is happening. This can also happen when you are carrying something bulky in your hands or when you are walking and you are not seeing where you are going. It is very common for your cat to get between your legs and you could step on it. And of course, be very careful if you are coming down from something high, like a stool or a ladder, because it is very common for the cat to be waiting for you below. If you do not check where you land, you could step on its tail or a paw. Another thing you need to pay attention to is drafts. Although it may seem unimportant if your cat, for example, goes out the window or there are drafts in your house, you should always make sure that doors and windows have a stopper to prevent them from closing accidentally, regardless of whether the door or window could hit your cat, which, well, may be a more or less remote possibility. The most important thing is that your cat could get locked in an area from which it cannot get out. And, for example, if you are not home, you will not notice. Something you should always keep in mind at home when you live with a cat, is to keep the cables well organized. I don't care if it is the one for your mobile phone charger or any other type of household appliance, if it is your mobile phone, so store it in a drawer. And for household appliances, which are always plugged in, I recommend that you secure them to the wall so that your cat cannot play with them. And speaking of things that can catch our cat's attention, the cords of blinds or shutters are their weakness. Always secure them to prevent them from hanging from them. There are some things that give your home a cozy and relaxed atmosphere, such as candles. However, if you live with a cat, they can be a huge danger, not because your cat will get too close to them, but because they can accidentally knock them over and burn themselves with their wax. And there are other things that also give off heat and can be very dangerous. I'm referring to scratching posts. Make sure that all the surfaces that your cat comes into contact with are adequately protected. In our case, we have put a piece of wood on top so that they can't stick their paws through the gaps. But if your cat is a bit of a cat person or an escape artist like Alkachofo, something you have to keep in mind is that you must always keep the front door closed so that they don't open it, as Caciofo has never done before. But in your kitchen, the dangers can increase. For example, always check that your knives, scissors and other sharp objects are protected and stored so that your cat cannot hurt itself. Always activate the safety button on your ceramic hob or stove. Our cats can accidentally turn them on if they step over them and burn themselves. And always check if you have any pans with hot oil. If your cat is jumping around, it is likely that it will hit them, and that poses a very serious risk of burns. Another thing that burns is the oven. When you finish making your favorite recipe, it is very common to leave the oven door to cool down. With the door ajar, let's close them to prevent their curiosity from causing burns. And while we are at it, let's always keep the dishwasher closed because there are lots of sharp and pointed objects inside that our cats can really hurt themselves with if they start sniffing them. And let's continue with household chores. If you're going to put the washing machine on, always check that your cat hasn't gotten in. It's very common for our cats to love resting in a place that smells like us, and it's no small thing. I assure you that many people tell me that they have to take their cats out of the house before putting the washing machine on. Come on. Jump. Go. Come on. And has it never happened to you that you've left a garment to soak because it has a very stubborn stain? Well, I don't know. With some bleach or any detergent. Well, always put it in a place where your cat can't access it, because again, their curiosity could lead to food poisoning. But if there is a major source of danger in our kitchen, it's the bin or trash can. Firstly, because there are food remains inside that can attract your cat's attention, and where bacteria have probably grown, your cat can suffer from more than just indigestion if they eat them. But the thing is, there are also usually sharp and cutting objects inside the trash, such as a can. Many cats come to the clinic with cuts caused by cans or even from the can stuck directly on their head. This usually happens with homeless kittens that sniff through the trash and get trapped. By doing this simple thing, we are protecting both our kitty and those who live on the street. Although there are other things that we have around the house that can be dangerous because of how toxic they are. For example, if we use any type of aerosol insecticide, we have to make sure that our cat is not around it. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions. The same goes for pesticides or insecticides for our plants. I don't care if they are natural, like neem oil, they can be dangerous for our cats if they taste them. And speaking of vegetables, be very careful with plants. There are some Very common ones that can be toxic to cats, like lilies or Christmas flowers. Before bringing a new plant into your home, make sure that it does not pose a risk to your feline companion. And keep all types of batteries out of reach of your cat, especially button type batteries, because they are smaller and could be swallowed. And I don't want you to end up at the vets with your cat poisoned by one of these. Also, be very careful with things and products for our cars. Commonly used antifreeze contains an ingredient called ethylene glycol, which our cats are very attracted to, which is pleasant to the taste and can be deadly. And you should always keep an eye on your home medicine cabinet. There are many medications that can be dangerous, from ibuprofen to paracetamol, but many others. Our cats like to play with anything that makes a little noise, and pill bottles can be a very addictive toy for them. It's no secret that cats love boxes, but be very careful with adhesive tape because they like the taste and the sound of them and can choke on them while playing with them. And when you've returned from shopping, you've probably seen your cat playing with plastic bags. They're attracted to the smells that these bags give off, and if we're not very careful, they can also get scratched by them. If your cat also has a small child living with them, always make sure that their toys are properly put away, especially the smaller ones, because if your cat swallows them, their intestines could become blocked or they could choke on them. And speaking of toys, tiny mice for cats that sometimes come with parts that come loose can be a real danger. For the same reason, regular stationary rubber bands really catch our cat's attention because of how they move and also because of the smell they give off. If they swallow them, they can get stuck in their intestines, causing a very, very serious situation that can put your cat's life at risk. And please don't give your cats hair ties to play with, because many people tell me that their feline companions love them. In addition to all the drawbacks of stationary ties, they are much more attractive because they are brightly colored and on top of that, they smell like us. A safe alternative to hair ties that will amuse your cat a lot are springs. I always tell you this, but here more than ever, think about it again in the same way, always keep small objects such as paper clips or buttons out of reach. I assure you that I have seen quite a few of these in the X rays I have done on many Cats, intestines. And something that goes very unnoticed by many people is thread and wool. Perhaps because we have this image in our heads of a cat playing with a ball of yarn. This also causes intestinal obstructions, as in the case of rubber bands. And threads are not only dangerous in themselves. We usually leave the needle already threaded at the ends. Since the cat is attracted to the thread, it starts playing with it and ends up swallowing the whole thing, needle included. This is very dangerous and more common than you might imagine. And there is nothing more commonplace that we can have in our home than our own food. And you think that they cannot be dangerous for your cat? Well, you could not be more wrong. For example, garlic and onion, the base of many of our dishes contain substances that can be very toxic to our cats and can cause anemia due to the breakdown of red blood cells. But not only that, grapes have been shown to be very toxic to dogs. And although there are no specific studies on our cats, there is a consensus among all veterinarians and scientists that they can produce the same effects on our feline companions. And I'm referring to both fresh grapes and raisins, which can cause kidney failure. And be careful with avocados. Apart from having a lot of fat, which makes your pancreas work hard and can lead to pancreatitis, they contain a substance called persin, which is especially present in the skin and pit of the avocado, which can cause vomiting and diarrhea. So keep it away from your cat, and don't let your cat accidentally eat sugar free gum or candy. They usually contain a substance called xylitol, which is a sweetener that can cause your cat's insulin to spike, even leading to hypoglycemia with fainting and loss of consciousness. It is also not at all advisable for your cat to eat meat with bones, especially if the bones are cooked, because they splinter much more easily. Chicken bones in particular can be a real danger, although if they are larger, they can again cause intestinal obstructions. Other things that can be dangerous in our kitchens are spices such as cinnamon, pepper or nutmeg. And something I'm tired of struggling with is cats and milk. Our feline companions are lactose intolerant, and if they eat too much, they can suffer from constipation or diarrhea. So no more bowls of milk for your cat. And finally, keep all types of chocolate away from your cat, because in addition to having a lot of fat, it contains an active ingredient called theobromine, which can be really dangerous. For them, because it's a toxin that can cause anything from diarrhea to hyperstimulation or even convulsions. So pay close attention. And with that, I've told you about 50 very, very everyday things that we have around our home that can be dangerous for our cats and that you might not have thought of. And what did you think of all this? Were there any of the things I've told you about that caught your attention? Leave me a comment so I can find out. Okay, wait. This will open like this. Now, wait. I don't know how to do it because how to open it? Very dangerous. Chops, Chop. Look what looks like the circus goat. Let's go. Oh, I don't have any plants here. Yes, yes, But I think for some reason it got erased and I said, oh, yes, they're here. Well, then there are 51. Well, then I'm going to remove it. Well, I'm going to remove the ones you tell me anyway. Do you want a smr? It goes very fast.
Garlic and onion base. In many of our dishes, garlic and onion are two. Huh? You put one and two. In other words, garlic 42 and onion 43, or vice versa.
