AYUDA A VALENCIA | Cómo ayudar a animales afectados por la DANA

This is a YouTube video titled "AYUDA A VALENCIA | Cómo ayudar a animales afectados por la DANA" created in November 2024. The content is a monologue by a single speaker discussing the severe flooding caused by a DANA storm in eastern and southern Spain, particularly in Valencia. The speaker focuses on the tragic impact on both people and animals, especially pets and farm animals, and provides detailed information on how viewers can help through donations and support to NGOs and associations. The video aims to raise awareness and encourage aid for the affected areas.
Hello. This week I'm not here to talk about interesting facts about our cats, or how we can take better care of them at home, or how to improve their lives. This week I've decided to talk about something that's much more important, because for those who don't know well, in Spain, we've suffered a real tragedy. Last week, on Tuesday, October 29, a Dana occurred who which is like a very strong storm that dumped a huge amount of water in the eastern and southern parts of our country. That large amount of water that was dumped in the mountains ended up being carried away by the rivers and caused terrible flooding, especially in the Valencia area. To date, Vedana has caused close to 200 deaths, or more than 200 deaths, and an undetermined number of people who have not been located. Therefore, it is possible that the tragedy will be even greater in the coming days. It has also undoubtedly affected the pets that live with these people, and not only animals that already lived in a house, but also those that, due to circumstances, lived in shelters or in areas that are more exposed to the elements. The force of the water has been devastating. It has destroyed entire towns, it has destroyed entire houses, and of course, it has also affected the lives of animals this week. That is precisely why we do not talk about anything other than helping, helping people on the one hand, but also the animals. People in Valencia still do not have, for example, in many places, running water. They do not have electricity. They are still cleaning their streets, their houses, looking for their relatives, their missing people. From here, although we are a bit far away, well, logically we feel helpless because we can't do more than what we are supposed to do, which is to amplify the situation that is happening and help from a distance in whatever way we can. And precisely this week, on the Happy Pets and Families Channel, we wanted to talk about nothing else but helping, because it is the only way we can find a solution for the lives of those living beings, dogs and cats, who are currently in a very, very precarious situation. Right. It really is very complicated to get help to that area for both people and animals, because the infrastructure and the roads are in very poor condition. There are towns where humanitarian aid has not yet been able to reach people or animals. But it is true that some channels and support channels are being organized for animals that need it and also for people. Well, from here, we want to encourage you to do your bit and find out how you can help that area. If that's what you want, well, you can do it online. Today I'm going to talk about how we can help our animal companions because I know that there are associations, nonprofit organizations that are organizing to improve the living conditions of these animals. Specifically, I'm going to tell you about what the foundation for Advice and Action in Defense of Animals F has published on its Instagram profile. It's a non governmental organization, a non profit ngo, as I mentioned, and it gives a series of recommendations because it has contact with associations and animal rights activists on the ground about how we can help. I'm going to leave you or it will appear on the screen right now. The contact details of a series of associations and organizations that are in the El Levante area, that are in the areas affected by these floods and that you can contact directly to help. In addition, what they suggest through their Internet profile is that, well, if we are in those areas or if we can send, well, we should send blankets, food, kennels, litter boxes, cleaning products and utensils, cat litter, feeders, beds, sheets, towels, cans of food and medical supplies. Of course, we don't need to go buy blankets and sheets and we have things at home that we don't need. We can send them because it is very important to them and it will probably help them a lot at this time. The latest news I received this morning is that on the football field in a neighborhood in Valencia called Benimakhlad, they are concentrating the animals that can be rescued and that are coming from the most affected areas. They mention in this news item that more than 300 animals have already been rescued there, approximately 100 cats and around 200 dogs, and that in the future they are also going to extend all this aid to farm animals, which, which, due to the circumstances that have occurred, have also been isolated. And logically, if they are isolated and cannot access food, their lives are in danger. In any case, I also want to tell you that on our social networks of pets and happy families, in what we can help any type of protective or animal association that is on the ground. You can write to us on our social networks, for example, on Instagram, which is much more immediate. You can also tell us what you need and if you want to also tell us, well, the direct contact so that we can spread the needs that are had on the ground. Because it is true that even though we are 600 or 700 kilometers away, we really do not know what is needed there. The fastest way is not to send us direct messages, but because many times those can get lost. It is much more effective if you tag Uskodasi familias felices in the stories or in the publications that you want us to echo or spread them so that we can share them directly through our profile, and that way they can reach many more people. In any case, if you want to support, you want to help both people who are having a hard time right now, or you also want to help animals that are completely helpless at the moment, I do recommend that you always go directly to associations or NGOs that channel aid, and that you always do so by collaborating with that area. That way, sorry, it will be much easier for what you are contributing to be applied on the ground. Because if we send, for example, packages or something we have at home, it is possible that since the infrastructure is not in the best condition, it may not arrive or it may not be distributed, because it cannot be distributed. And well, that area is also already overwhelmed, because logically, at the moment they are trying to prioritize the areas of aid. So that's why I do recommend that you always get in touch with an NGO or an association, so that they can tell you how they know that the aid you are going to send them can reach them. On the other hand, if you live in Spain, find out if there is an association in your area that is organizing some type of food or material collection to send to Valencia. Because in the same way that I tell you that it is much better for the aid to arrive through associations there, it is much better if they organize a large collection at the source and only organize a single, much larger shipment to ensure that it finally arrives. I know that in many places in Spain these types of collections are being organized and that they are being carried out. Therefore, it is very possible that near your area you will have the possibility of helping without having to think about how to send something to Valencia or how it can get there, simply go to a nearby place in your area and do your bit there. Likewise, it is also possible that food collections or basic necessities for people are being organized. I also recommend that you find out if you can contribute or help in your area. Of course, this aid is not only aimed at people who have been affected in Valencia, but also large areas of the southeastern part of Spain that have been affected by this major storm. But it is true that we are focusing on the coastal area of Valencia, because it is the area that is much more affected and where really the situation has reached such a great scale that it can be considered a real tragedy, both from the point of view of people and animals. If you are thinking of donating food, for example, I recommend that you either opt for cans because they keep much better, they are also waterproof and they can be carried and brought back more or less easily, although they may weigh a little more. If not, it is always better to use sealed bags of dry food. Do not give them open to ensure that they are preserved and arrive in better condition. And if you choose to contribute something financially, make sure, as I have mentioned, that it is an association and that in the end the money ends up going back to the animals that are not needed in those areas. Without further ado, we would like to send all our support to the people who are having a hard time and to all those people who are still looking for their relatives who have not been found. Also to those people who have lost relatives or who have also lost pets and canine companions, felines and others. Well, at least from here we want to contribute our little grain of sand from this window that YouTube gives us. And we really hope that this situation ends as soon as possible, that all the people who need help end up finding it, and that we have contributed, even if it is minimal. Okay?
