Hello and welcome to this new video from Animal Expert. Today we're going to talk about the Bichon Frise, also known as the curly haired Bichon. Whether you're considering the option or you already have one and want to expand your knowledge, in this video we'll explain everything you need to know to care for it properly. In the Mediterranean basin in the 11th century, crossbreeding began with the ancient barbette dog, now extinct, which gave rise to the Barbachan dogs and the Poodle. The result of these different crossbreeds resulted in four types of Bichon the Maltese, the Bolognese, the Havanese and the Tenerife. It was the latter that gave rise to the current Bichon Frise. We'll highlight its popularity especially during the reigns of Henry I and Napoleon I in France. However, it almost became extinct during the first and second World wars, something that was avoided thanks to various breeders in Europe and the United States. The Bichon Frise stands out for its silky fine white coat shaped like a corkscrew and which can reach 10cm in length. Its deep black eyes contrast with this. It is a small dog weighing between 3 and 4 kg and can reach 20 or 24 cm at the withers in the case of females and 21 or 25 cm in the case of males. The Bichon Frise is a dog with a cheerful, dynamic and playful nature. It is also very sensitive and affectionate, and unlike other small dogs, it is not usually excessively nervous or barking. They are very sociable dogs and attached to the family to which they belong. As it is a long haired dog, the Bichon Frises coat will require various types of care, starting with the daily use of a long bristled brush and brushes. If we don't offer them a brushing routine, we will start to notice the appearance of knots and tangles, something very uncomfortable for our dog unless they become Rastafarian. On the other hand, it is highly recommended to offer them a dog grooming session every 30 or 60 days to keep their coat white, clean and spotless. Like any dog, the Bichon Frise needs a marked routine of walks to have stability in their day to day life. It is recommended to go out two to three times a day, but the most important thing is to combine them with some moderate exercise. Playing with a ball can be an excellent tool for this. Finally, remember that due to their great emotional needs, the Bichon Frise will need a committed family by their side who will provide them with company whenever possible. If this is not done, they can become a sad and destructive dog. The Bichon Frise is an easy dog to train and educate as they are very intelligent dogs that will respond wonderfully to the use of positive reinforcement and other reward based techniques such as the Clicker. To educate him, the first thing to do is to introduce him to socialization, a process that begins in the puppy stage in which we will introduce all types of dogs, animals, people, objects and environments. This will determine whether he will not be a fearful or reactive dog in the future. Later on we will introduce him to basic training commands which are very important for his safety. Some of these are sit, stay still, lie down or come here. Later on we can introduce him to fun tricks and advanced commands to continue fostering his intelligence. The Bichon Frazete is usually a healthy dog. However, we must pay attention to overweight, patellar luxation, tooth loss or cataracts. To prevent these problems, it is highly recommended to visit the vet every six months and follow their advice. Don't forget that to maintain good health in your Bichon, you will also need to follow a vaccination and deworming schedule. If you follow our advice, you will have a happy and healthy dog by your side for a long time. And that's it for today's video. Give it a like and subscribe if you enjoyed it. And don't forget to comment to share your doubts and experiences. Until next time, experts.
