Collar eléctrico para perros

Adrian from Our Loyal Friend explains why electric collars and anti-bark devices harm dogs instead of training them. Electric shocks cause physical pain and emotional damage. Positive reinforcement works better and keeps dogs safe.
Hi, I'm Adrian from our loyal friend, and in today's video, we're going to talk to you about electric and anti bark collars. If you've ever been advised to use any type of electric collar, stay tuned and watch the video because you could seriously damage your dog's health, both physically and emotionally. First of all, you should ask yourself what you want to base your animal's education on, whether it's obligation and punishment or reward and trust. There are several reasons why these types of collars are used. One of them is that they're more effective. So far, studies done with fieldwork and surveys of owners comparing them to positive reinforcement have shown not only that they're not more effective, but that positive reinforcement is more effective. The main problem is that it's very difficult to determine when is the right time to apply the punishment. And not just the right time, but also the intensity of the punishment. It's always recommended and it's advisable. In case you didn't know that when in doubt about when to punish, it's best not to do it. With this type of electric punishment, we will never know if it is the right time, if the intensity is adequate, if we are falling short, if we are falling long. So it is better never to apply it, we can seriously worsen this situation. Because if the punishment is not applied at the right time, we can cause negative associations with other people, animals or circumstances. Therefore, the animal will associate the shock, for example, with a child who may be passing by at that time. In terms of health, studies have shown that this type of collar considerably increases stress levels. Therefore, we are attacking the animal welfare of our dog. And if we look at the five freedoms of animal welfare, one of which is not to cause suffering or pain to the animal, we are failing to comply with it. The power of these collars varies between manufacturers, but it also varies in the environment, depending on the type of fur, whether it is tight or not. Therefore, as we have been saying, it is very complicated to really control the type of power that we are exerting on the dog. How do we really know that the power is adequate and not excessive? Because it can be excessive. But as we have previously ignored the calming signals, our animal may not show any type of signal when faced with pain. Can there be physical damage? Obviously, yes. In order for the shock to be transmitted, the two metal buttons of the collar must be tightly fitted to the animal's neck. Therefore, this pressure, together with the electric shock can create a high risk of necrosis. Finally, when you use a collar of this type, your dog is probably making calming or appeasing signals and you are actually ignoring these signals. Since you continue working with this collar, what will this cause? It will cause your dog to stop emitting these low intensity signals in the long term and will start to increase the intensity, eventually biting. Since you had previously ignored all these signals and your dog has understood that there is no point in making low intensity signals with you if you have gone to a professional and I recommend using these collars, you already know that it is not going to be a good option for the education or training of your dog. So run far away. If after everything I've explained you still feel like using it and you tell me no, I just want to use it as an anti bark collar and I ask you why does your dog bark? Barking is part of their verbal language. If it's excessive, you should ask yourself why they're doing it and go to a professional who works in a positive way to help you. It's definitely not an appropriate tool for training or educating your dog. Training based on positive reinforcement has proven to be more effective, especially in the long term, for both your dog's physical and emotional health. And that's it for the video on electric and anti bark collars. I hope you enjoyed it. Don't forget to subscribe to my channel and follow me on social media where you'll find me as your loyal friend.
