Cómo cuidar un perro en verano - 6 pasos

Six practical steps to keep your dog safe in summer heat. Avoid heat stroke by limiting outdoor time, keep water available always, protect against parasites, and know when it's too hot to walk.
Hello and welcome to this new video from Animal Expert. Today we're going to talk about caring for dogs in the summer. Take note of our advice. It's essential to avoid heat stroke. Some people trust leaving their dog in the car when they want to do some quick shopping. However, they don't know that during the summer the car can become a death trap. Even if you leave the car under a tree or it's only for a short time, the truth is that the car can turn into a real sauna. At an ambient temperature of 26, the interior of the car heats up to 36.5 in just 10 minutes and 45 grams in 30 minutes. Thousands of dogs die every year worldwide because of this, and tens of thousands suffer lifelong consequences from this serious human error. Therefore, the best way to never make this terrible mistake is to never leave your dog inside the car. Whatever the season. During the summer, you should never skimp on water for your dog. You will notice that they drink more than usual, just like people do. As a result of the heat, salts, minerals and trace elements are lost, which must be recovered or maintained. Water is an essential element. If on some occasion we have to leave our home for several hours during the summer and we cannot take the dog with us, we should leave the usual drinking bowl full and another backup container also full of water. If you want to know how to make a drinking bowl, do not miss the one we made on our channel. When going on a mountain excursion, for example, we should also take a bottle of water for our best friend. If the dog is not well hydrated, it is susceptible to heatstroke. So it is very important to always be alert, making sure that it has fresh, clean water. Some people make the big mistake of clipping their dog's hair, believing that this will keep it cooler during the summer. For the vast majority of dog breeds, this is a serious mistake. The coat protects them from both the cold and the heat efficiently. If we cut and reduce this protection, the dog will have a hard time and the hair that grows back later will be weaker. Dead hair is what makes the dog overheat. On the other hand, live hair forms air chambers that cool the dog's body temperature. For this reason, we recommend cutting the hair only in breeds that need it and brushing them all daily. During the summer, the usual places where we walk our dogs change radically. The bushes and plants among which our dogs run and play become places full of parasites. These unwanted guests can cause a lot of discomfort and even different diseases to our dogs. During the summer, it is necessary to protect them with pipettes, collars or sprays and to be vigilant if they scratch themselves unusual when we bathe them. We will also use anti parasitic shampoos. During walks and excursions, it is common for plant matter to adhere to the dog's coat. It is important to remove spikes, twigs, seeds, flakes and various plant matter tangles that, if not quickly undone, turn into knots that will unfortunately require your dog to have its haircut. In addition, thorns and spikes are dangerous because they tend to get stuck in the paws between the toes and cause serious discomfort. For this reason, we recommend that you thoroughly check your dogs after excursions in the forest and the countryside. Before going outside, apply the 5 second technique. Put your hand on the asphalt and if you can't hold it for more than five seconds, you should not take your dog for a walk. Intense heat can cause pain and wounds to the dog's pads. It also makes them susceptible to heat stroke. It is best to walk your dog during the coolest hours of the day such as dawn and dusk, and to take very short walks of between five and 10 minutes when it is very hot. In addition, physical exercise should be completely avoided if the temperature is very high. Don't miss the following video for tips on how to avoid heat stroke.
