The video includes detailed explanations of various methods such as using a towel wrap, crushing pills, and using a pill dispenser, along with humorous and thematic references to Hogwarts. The content is a monologue-style instructional presentation aimed at cat owners.
Ollie, I've come from Howard because I've been given a vacation to explain to you how to give your cat the pill, because sometimes cats get really angry and I have some foolproof tricks for that. Hello, I'm Carlos, a clinical veterinarian in small animals and also a magician in my free time from Howard's school. Welcome to the Pets and Happy Families Channel. Well, I'm from the Ravencloud house, but this is a conceptual nightmare because the tie is from Lyring, the scarf is from Felf, which is from Jose's house, and my wand is from Ravenkel or Raven Club. This is incredibly hot in the summer in Seville, so outside it's fine for when it snows in Howard, but not here. When you have to give your cat a pill, many times you get really scared because suddenly it turns into a diabolical being that doesn't let itself be manipulated. And obviously you can't do anything it having to face its jaws and put the medication you have to give it inside. I'm getting rid of things. But that doesn't just happen to you. It also happens to us veterinarians when there's a cat that wants to ruin our day and won't let us give it the medication. That's why we've developed a series of tricks to handle this type of cat and get it to always take its pill. And today I'm here to reveal them to you. Okay, my question, does this work for dogs or does it have nothing to do with it? Well, the thing is that dogs are more stupid. As I always say, as soon as you give it something to eat, they take it. Cats don't. These are a series of very easy tricks that you can adapt to your cat depending on its behavior, so that you can always give it the medication, save your hands and also your dignity. And you'll also help your cat not get so stressed when you have to face that terrible moment. First of all, whenever you have an alternative, try not to have to give your cat any type of medication. I'm referring, for example, to when you have to give it an antiparasitic pill or internal antiparasitic treatment, there are alternatives so you don't have to fight with your cat because there are some pipettes that can be placed on the cat's skin and that deworm it inside and out, thus avoiding the ordeal. But that's not what we're here to talk about. If you have to give your cat a pill and your cat is cooperative, you can have another person hold Its paws. While you open its mouth with your thumb and index finger, you're going to hold the pill, put it in its mouth, and push it out with your index finger. The trick here is to do it very quickly and to know how to open your cat's mouth. To open its mouth, what you have to do is press your fingers on the sides of its snout around here or there. That way the cat will open its mouth and give you a clear path to insert the pill. Okay, but this is definitely not as easy as you make it seem.
No, it's not. For people who aren't used to it, the first trick I'm going to show you is called a cat towel.
Cat towel. What do you need for this trick? Your cat, a pill, and above all, a blanket or a towel. It has to be thick enough, like a bath towel, but not too thick, because if it's too thick, you won't be able to handle it very well. So what you have to do is put your cat in the towel, making it look like a kind of kibble. What could ruin the trick? If a paw slips out, especially the front ones, the back one's a little less, but you have to keep an eye on them, too. And how do you do it? Well, you simply have to wrap your cat up, leaving the head sticking out. You'll need to put the paws back so that you can control them much better. Of course, you're going to need someone to help you, because in these cases, it's always much better for that person to control the paws and for you to only have to worry about putting the pill in its mouth. Okay, but let's suppose that your cat is a piranha and won't let you open its mouth. How can you give it the pill? Well, that's why I've brought you the second trick. Crushing it. You can only apply this trick with pills that can be crushed. For that, I recommend that you ask your vet, because not all of them can be crushed. And for example, capsules can't be opened because otherwise they'll lose their effect. What do you need for this trick? The pill, of course, and your cat. And also a can of wet food, because that's how you're going to give your cat the pill without it realizing it. And what will ruin this trick? If you leave the pill very lightly crushed. If you leave pieces big enough for the cat to notice, it won't take the pill no matter how you give it to it. I'll tell you. And how do you do it? Well, it's very simple. You'll have to crush the pill very finely. To crush the pill, the best thing you can do is either moisten it a little with water and then crush it, for example, with a spoon. Or pharmacies sell specific pill formers that crush the pill and leave it in a fine powder. Once you've crushed it, mix it with a very small amount of food. This will ensure that the cat swallows all the medication in one bite and doesn't have to eat in several bites that it might realize and end up leaving some there on your plate. Bon appetit. If you bring it to it, well, okay, but some cats won't even do that. What can you do in this case? Well, I bring you the third trick, gearing garmouse. You can apply this trick to all pills that can be crushed. And what do you need for the trick to work your cat? The pill. And in this case, a syringe this big. Right. It has to be a very small syringe because the amount of water in which you are going to dilute the pill has to be very small. I hadn't told you that you had to dilute it. Right. Well, now I'll tell you what can ruin your trick. Well, dilute the pill in a lot of water. If you dilute it in a very small amount of water, it's much easier for it to go boom and for everything to go inside super easily. And how do you do this trick? Well, it's very simple. Dilute the pill in a very small amount of water. And how do you give it to your cat? Well, no, don't give it to them straight in front of them, because then they might reject it. You'll have to put it here on the side of the mouth and then give it to him all at once, if possible. And if you're wondering how to give the syrups, well, you follow this trick. And if none of this works and you don't have an invisibility cloak nearby so that your cat doesn't see you approaching him with the pill in your hand, what you have to do is use the wand. The magic wand, right? The pill applicator, or as I call it, the pill dispenser. Endilgum pistillum. This is not the pill applicator. It's a device that you can buy anywhere, many times, even in veterinary clinics. That looks like a syringe. As you can see, it has a nozzle that can be made of rubber or shaped like a clamp to hold the pill. And it has A plunger that pushes the pillow. It also has a chamber that you can fill with a little water, so that when you give your cat the pill, a little water also goes into its mouth and your cat can swallow it without any problems. This is a very simple way to give medication to cats, because you can give it to them without having to use your hands, since they are quite far from their mouth. And you can also give it to them without getting in the way or making them nervous. Look how Mew reacts to the device. He doesn't get disgusted at all because he is also relaxed on his sofa. And that's when we take the opportunity to put it in his mouth. Obviously, I wasn't giving Milou any pills because he didn't need medication. I just wanted to show you how it works. The good thing about this trick is that you can use it in combination with the others that I've already taught you. For example, with the towel, if your cat doesn't cooperate very much, or by holding the paws of someone nearby, or, well, mixing it up a bit with what we've talked about before. And it's also something very cheap that anyone who has a cat can have at home, because it will make their life a lot easier. And it also makes it a lot easier for us magicians at Howard. And what could go wrong with this trick? Well, the pill could be small and the system might not push it through properly. Or if you've already put the pill dispenser in the cat's mouth, it's common for the rubber nozzle to get a little wet and the pill to stick there. But hey, that usually doesn't happen. Don't worry. And that's it. As you can see, you don't need to go to Halogard's to learn how to give a pill to a cat. You just need the greatest virtue that we magicians have, patience with a cat. You need a lot of it. And how do you give your cat pills? Do you have a system that I haven't mentioned in this video? Well, let me know in the comments so I can find out. And that's it for today's video. If you liked it, give it a like and share it with everyone. Remember to subscribe to our channel if you haven't already, and hit the bell. So YouTube will notify you every time we upload new content. And also remember that we have a secondary channel here on YouTube called Questions and Answers from a Veterinarian. And today we meet Happy, who lives happily with David Bergues. And we also have with us Lana, the little one of the house, who is only one month old. She lives with Alberto Mendez and his family. And we say goodbye with a photo of Marco Ulysses, large feline family. He tells us that he loves our channel and says hello to everyone. Well, hello to everyone. Thank you very much for following the Happy Pets and Families Channel. And we'll see you in the next video. Okay, let's see what you know, because these things are often awful. Wow. What a time We've chosen to make a Harry Potter aesthetic video. With all the J.K. rowling controversy. We don't support her. No. I don't know what trick I can give you. JK Ring the Anti Taps. Yeah. Hi. Okay. You know, we don't have the microphone on. Oh. If you see me, I'm from the Raven Cloud house. But this is a conceptual nightmare. The first trick is to do what? Wait, what do you call it? Okay, bad. You have to take the entire capsule because whatever's around it protects the contents from stomach acid and reaches the intestine, which is where it has to be absorbed. Otherwise, they wouldn't formulate it in capsule form, they would formulate it in pill form. That's a lie.
You drink a glass of water and swallow it. Don't spoil the tricks for me. You haven't been to Howard's.
