Cómo detener una pelea de gatos

This is a YouTube video titled "Cómo detener una pelea de gatos" created on February 29, 2012, featuring Elista Gonzalez explaining how to understand and manage cat fights and bites. The content is an educational talk focused on cat behavior, providing advice on how to safely intervene in cat fights to prevent injuries and infections.
Hello, how are you? I'm Elista Gonzalez and I'm here to explain to you a little bit about how to understand cats. I study behavior to provide them with a better life and above all to educate ourselves on how to live with these exceptional animals. Today we're going to discuss bites, cat fights that we often find in our surroundings, on the street, in our own gardens, if we have them, or at home when there are territorial marks and we don't know how to proceed. When there's a cat bite, it's best to act quickly to avoid injuries, damage that can then get worse. We're not talking about damage that just involves a single bite, an injury or inflammation, but worse damage, such as a wound that we can't locate that closes up and then forms an abscess. This means that this closed abscess can even lead to the death of the cat if the infection spreads to the bloodstream. So the first thing we need to do when we find ourselves in a situation where two cats start an argument, a fight, is to get as close as possible, always respecting the territory where the fight is taking place, and make a loud noise, a firm cry, with a clap, so that. But the cat focuses more on escaping from the fright and not on continuing the battle with its opponent. If, despite all that, they continue to fight, we need to get closer and make the noise louder. We should never use an object to interfere, because then the cats may associate us with the fact that we also want to participate in the fight, and then they will not respond to our actions of calming them down or doing anything else. After separating them, when they have reacted to our warning, the cats must be completely calm, there must be a serene environment and we must let them rest for five to ten minutes. So gradually approach both of them so that they relax and don't associate it with the fact that nothing happened. It was a small dispute, like the ones we might have with our relatives. This happens in every house. Bring them a reward and above all, don't try to get them to play again, because cats don't have a short term memory. Then we could relapse again, or the other cat, the one that's not with us, could think, oh, there's favoritism. We have to leave them and be aware of when they get together again. When they get together again, we see some kind of reaction, like tail whipping movements, lowering their ears, either pulling them back or putting them to one side, or an atmosphere is created. Then let's say it is broken. We have to pick up one of the Cats play with it, distract them so that this tension doesn't happen again. Why? As we have said, cat fights due to their teeth and nails, if they have not been cut or unfortunately injured, can be dangerous due to the wounds. In the best case scenario, an eye can be poked out, but if a wound closes and becomes infected, then he will not notice it and the cat may die in the leave. So my advice above all, remember, when there is a cat bite, make a loud noise so that they separate. Forget about the problems they have between them, and then when they have separated, calm them down one by one, try to create an Then the cat will see that we have not participated in the fight by throwing a product, like many people tend to throw blankets or cushions, right? Because then they will have seen that we have not interfered. The only memory they have of us is relaxation, because they won't associate us with noise or din, because they'll be so caught up in each other that they won't have seen that we were the ones who caused it. That's the only way to separate two cats without them having a negative memory of this later on. Because remember, cats will always think of us as their friends, their troubleshooters, and they should never associate us with a negatively stressful situation. That's our advice for today on how to defend two cats who are going to get into a fight. I'm Elizabeth Gonzalez and I'm here to help you with anything you need. Thank you.
