Welcome to this new video from Animal Expert. Today we bring you a very special video that we recorded at the Suwara foundation. Five tips for Gaining a Cat's Trust in addition, all the cats in this video are up for adoption. So if you're thinking of adopting, don't hesitate to visit the chaos in the Born district of Barcelona. You'll find all the information in the information box. Whenever there's a change such as moving house, a family member leaving or a new experience, it's essential to give your felines some time to adapt to the situation. It's important to never force them to do something they don't want to do, to make them leave a place if they're hiding, or to pressure them excessively. Cats will move forward when they feel safe. For this reason, we recommend that you generally give them time and don't pressure them to avoid them getting stuck. Obviously we're not referring to emergency situations or specific times such as when it's time to go to the vet. Respecting the time your cat needs is essential to gaining their trust in you. Your cat will be more willing to spend time with you if they associate your presence with a positive attitude. How? If every time you show up the experiences are good, that is they receive food, playtime or petting. As time goes by, your cat will associate your arrival with only pleasant things happening for them. On the other hand, if when you arrive everything is full of noise and stressful situations for them, the association they will have towards you will be rather negative. Make an effort to ensure that your cat has a good time with you every day and you will see how you start to earn their trust. Using punishment will not only make your cat associate you with a negative attitude, it will also increase their stress and anxiety levels, make them insecure or inhibited, and in general it will worsen your relationship. The ideal thing when training a cat is to focus on reinforcing positive behaviors and when behavioral problems appear, seek the causes and the help of a professional or expert in the field. Playing is an activity that you should do daily with your cat. It is important to improve your bond, but also to stimulate their mind and enrich their day to day life. There are all kinds of toys on the market such as fishing rods or toy mice. However, we recommend going a step further and looking for mentally stimulating toys such as a kong or toys that encourage them to exercise and also improve their reflexes. Show them all your affection. Cats are not always grateful to those who care for and protect them and can sometimes be very unfriendly in certain situations, however, expressing affection to them in an unquestionable way, whether through petting or kind words, is a good way to ensure that it is not accepted. In addition, understanding feline nature itself, being patient and being consistent in the search for friendship is essential if we want to strengthen the bond with our cat and gain its trust. Ultimately, the most important thing to gain a cat's trust is to give it its own space and be aware of the feline nature, making an effort to understand its language and ways of socializing. If we interact with it in a positive way through daily activities that can help improve our bond in a short time, our cat will begin to trust us. In some very specific cases, a feline may not make any progress. That's when we should seek the help of a specialist, such as a veterinarian who is an expert in neurology or a professional who specializes in feline education and behavior modification.
