¿Cómo SABER si mi GATO está ENFERMO? 😿 (9 Síntomas)

Nine signs your cat might be sick: fever, changes in urine or feces, nausea, unusual purring, bad breath, drinking more water, appetite changes, excessive scratching, and odd postures. Watch for these and see a vet if you notice them.
Cats of any breed can occasionally feel unwell, and it is our duty to help restore their health. To help you know if your cat is sick, at Animal Expert, we explain the most important symptoms. To find out, let's get started. First, Fever. If a cat has a fever, it will usually have a dry and hot muzzle. You should use a thermometer to take its anal temperature. We must be very careful as it does not usually like it. The temperature should be between 37.5 and 39 degrees Celsius. If your cat is above 39, it will be feverish and its coat will lose shine. Above, we show you a video in which we teach you how to take a cat's temperature. 2. Appearance of urine and feces. If our cat feels unwell, we must check its urine as it could have some type of kidney or bladder problem. Another very important factor is whether the cat urinates outside its litter box, as this is somewhat unusual behavior. When this happens, it usually means that they are having trouble urinating and they will show it clearly. To know if our cat is sick, we must also observe their stool to determine if it is normal or if there is something unusual. If we notice that our feline has diarrhea, is bleeding or has not defecated for more than two or three days, we must go to the vet. 3. Nausea if you notice that your cat is nauseous, do not panic. Cats usually purge themselves and sometimes regurgitate to do so. However, sometimes they have dry nausea without vomiting. This is worrying as it could be a sign of a stomach or esophageal obstruction. If our feline friend vomits several times over a day or two, it could be a sign of poisoning or an infection of the intestinal tract and it could even be a kidney problem. 4. Purring. If our cat purrs very loudly, it is a sign that they are not feeling well and want to let us know so that we can help them. It can also do this by meowing in distress, but this is more common in very vocal breeds such as the Siamese. 5. Bad breath. If our cat has foul breath, it is possible that it has kidney or dental problems. If its breath smells fruity, it is a very bad sign as it could be that our feline friend has diabetes. 6. Increased water intake. If we notice that our feline drinks excessive amounts of water, it may be a symptom that it is sick. It could be a sign of diabetes, a kidney condition or even a serious illness. 7. Changes in appetite. A sudden loss of appetite is a clear sign that the cat is not feeling well. In these circumstances, it is advisable for it to drink enough water. If our cat also refuses to drink, we should go to the vet because these are two bad signs. In this case, it it is possible that it has been poisoned as it does not dare to eat or drink due to the tremendous pain it feels in its stomach. Find out more about loss of appetite in cats in the video included in the card. Number eight. Excessive scratching. If a cat scratches itself a lot, it's a clear sign that it has parasites. Fleas are the most common, but there are also many other external parasites such as ticks or mites. From spring onwards, it's a good idea to protect your feline with an anti parasite collar or a pipette. Number nine. Postures of a sick cat. When a cat is sick, it shows a general state of being droopy. You may notice that it sleeps more than usual. It doesn't sleep or sleeps at unusual times. In this way, we must monitor its sleep and whether or not it eats. In addition, it tends to adopt abnormal positions, make strange movements and lose its usual desire to play. Once you have confirmed that any of these symptoms exist, you should go to the vet. In addition, an annual or biannual visit to the vet is necessary so that the professional can check the cat and monitor its health.
