Hi, we're Bongo Vespa and myself. I'm Patricia Herrero from Paid a dog Trainer. And today, together with an animal expert, we're going to make you think. Is the trip you're planning good for your dog? Whenever we plan a trip with our dog, we think that any place will do, but that's not the case. We have to adapt it to our canine companion. First, we have to take their age into account. When they're puppies, it's ideal to take many trips to different places and sleep in different places, because that way they'll get used to adapting to any situation. Then, when they're adults, the same thing will depend a lot on the work we've done previously. In other words, it's not enough that our dog is calm just because he's 4 years old. It's really because we've really dedicated time to the early stages of life where he's calm and socialized in many ways. Ways. And then finally we have the senior age, which is where we have to be more careful. For example, Bongo is currently nine years old and we bought a ramp for the trip we're planning. Why? Because there will be many moments of getting in and out of the van, and once it's okay not having to make the effort to get in, but his back is a bit more strained and doing it many times a day can harm him. So I have adapted the van, let's say, to him, with a ramp. But you can also do it by carrying them in your arms. If they weigh less than him, you can do it in many ways. You also have to take into account the activity during a trip. It may not seem like it, but we are up and down all day doing things, and even if they are with us, resting on a terrace, they are also receiving a lot of stimuli. So we have to take into account the activity and whether our dog is going to be tired. So during the trip there should also be many moments of rest. In other words, during the trip we should have moments of activity in which our dog is adapted. In other words, not always sightseeing, also looking for nature, playing with them. Right. Neglecting that, of course. And then also many moments of rest where they can really disconnect and relax. For this, a transport box, for example, would also be very useful. Regardless of the condition of your dog, we have to take into account their health and physical condition, because just like humans, they also have different physical conditions depending on the activity they do. So I recommend, especially if you are going on a long trip, that you have your dog checked by a vet. That is blood tests, even some X rays, for example, for the trip we are going to undertake, I have had tests done on both of them. For example, we have also had some X rays done on Bongo to see if everything was okay. And we have noticed that his back is a bit more. That is why we take the ramp and also adapt the trip to him. And then also when there are going to be high mountain outings, Bongo will not come. Are we going to go only with Vespa or are we going to adapt the route? Well, the journey to Bongo, the same happens with puppies. We think that because they have a lot of vitality, we can do anything. And that is not the case. They are in full development and if we do a lot of sports at that time, it can cause them long term problems. And with adult dogs that may even be in good physical shape, we must always take into account their muscles, do stretching exercises and always adapt them to how they are. Then, at your destination, find the best place to sleep. There are many hotels in Spain that allow dogs to go. If not, you can also go camping. You can camp or like us, go in a van. Find the most suitable way to keep your dog calm. Once again, transporting them can be a good way for your dog to get used to being in that place. I also advise you to find out about the places where you can take your dog in case of an emergency. I know it may sound very catastrophic, but in an emergency the last thing we think about is where to look for that phone. So if you are going to Caseras, for example, have the emergency number of the vets there written down. Because it is very easy for humans, but not so much for dogs. It's also good to take a first aid kit. You don't need to take big things, just basic things that can save you. For example, an antihistamine can be a good thing, especially when we are in places like this, full of thorns, where there may be things that can cause allergies. And finally, once you are on the trip, always try to have a balance between play activity and rest, so that your dog enjoys your stay as much as you do, wherever you are. I hope that after this video you feel like going on canine adventures with your dog and above all that you adapted as much as possible to both him and you, and that you enjoy it a lot.
