Convivencia entre gatos y perros | Educador de Gats

This is a YouTube video titled "Convivencia entre gatos y perros | Educador de Gats" created in February 2017, featuring Jordy Furze, a cat educator, discussing how dogs and cats can coexist peacefully. The content provides practical advice on introducing dogs and cats to each other, managing their interactions, and ensuring a stress-free environment for both pets. The video is educational and aimed at pet owners seeking guidance on pet coexistence.
Hi, I'm Jordy Furze, known as a cat educator. Today I'm going to talk to you about coexistence between dogs and cats. There's no secret to coexistence between dogs and cats. Dogs and cats are not historical enemies. In fact, there are many cats and dogs that are great friends. All we have to do is go to YouTube, type in dogs and cats playing, or simply dogs and cats, and we'll see. That's the proof from there. Sometimes people call me with fear. I want to introduce a dog into the house. I already have a cat, or vice versa. Things are going to work. Things are going to go well. What's going to happen? Well, in principle, things don't have to go badly. Well, perhaps what's important is if we have a cat and a dog has to come, it would be interesting if that dog had lived with other cats. That way, the impact on the dog wouldn't be so great if it met a cat. Ah, sometimes it depends on the problem. It could be the dog or it could be the cat. Uh, if it's the dog, we'll have to talk to the dog's color. Uh, if it's the cat. Normally, when the dog arrives home, the best thing we can do is bring it in on a leash and keep it at a certain distance from our cat. The cat seeing it is important, um, that it doesn't run into it suddenly, and that we don't give the dog the chance to chase the cat, even if it doesn't want to hurt it, uh, even if it just wants to play or wants to chase it. But the cat can get very stressed, and a bad experience right off the bat can make it harder. It doesn't have to be impossible, far from it. But it can be harder. Uh, usually in quotes, the cat is in charge. That means that we'll do things more to the cat's liking than the dogs, because the dog receives orders, uh, or can receive them. On the other hand, the cat doesn't receive orders. We can't tell him what to do or what not to do, and especially if he gets nervous. Therefore, we have to keep the dog under control so that the cat doesn't get too stressed out. And from there, little by little, they will start finding time to play together, to see each other, to be in the same room, to realize, especially the cat that has a hard time seeing things, that the cat and the dog are not dangerous. And little by little, over the days, they will get used to it. Perhaps the first few days, if we see that there is some friction. We can separate them for a while, especially when we are not there. But what is important is that the more time they spend together under our control, the better. Little by little, we will be able to let go of the leash. Especially because we will be able to keep the dog calm or. Or in charge, whatever it feels like. And the cat, from a distance, in its place, up high or wherever it wants, will be able to control the dog. Surely, when the dog sleeps, the cat will go and smell it, spy on it. That is very interesting. They don't have to be friends right away, or friends in general. Above all, all they have to do is tolerate each other. The size of the dog doesn't matter. We can have anything from a Pomeranian to a Pekingese. The important thing is that neither of them, cat or dog, has a tendency to be aggressive towards the other. Usually it will happen, and occasionally some people will find that they have to call a professional. But otherwise, if we make a good introduction, things should go well. Once again, from Akituari for animal experts. See you in the next video. Sa.
