Hello and welcome to this new video from Animal Expert. Today we're going to talk about the Rottweiler, one of the most popular and oldest Molosser breeds in Europe. The Rottweiler originated in Rottwalet, a village located in southwestern Germany near the Black Forest. However, its history dates back to the time of the Roman Empire. At that time, the Rottweiler's ancestors were mainly used for herding cattle. However, when the Romans arrived in the Rottwali region, they crossed their dogs with the natives of the area, giving rise to the breed we know today. Later, in the Middle Ages, the Rottweiler became popular under the name of the Rottwell Butcher's dog, a breed that, in addition to herding, was excellent for protection and guarding mainly butchers who travel to different markets. In the 20th century, the Rottweiler was officially named a police dog and the breed began to be recognized by various canine federations. It also took an active part in World War I as a messenger, rescue dog and defense dog. The Rottweiler is a large, robust looking Molosser type dog. It has a strong build, but it is an agile and hardy dog. Its skin is soft and tight, although it forms small wrinkles on the dog's forehead when it is alert. Its outer coat is medium, long, hard and thick. But it also has an undercoat that protects it from the outside world. The main color of the coat is black and it usually shows small brown and reddish spots on different parts of the body, such as the eyebrows, cheeks or chest. It is important to note that in the past it was required to dock the tail of this breed, mainly for aesthetic purposes. Today, fortunately for dogs, the FCI standard requires the entire tail. The Rottweiler stands out for being a very attentive dog, obedient to its family, loyal and reliable, although some details of its personality will be related to education and other factors. Generally speaking, we are dealing with a calm and very versatile dog which has been used as a police dog, therapy dog and rescue dog. The Rottweiler is an easy care dog. We will bathe it every two to three months, paying attention to accumulated dirt, and we will brush it at least once a week to remove dead hair. The rest of the body areas, such as the teeth, nails and ears should also be cleaned regularly. On the other hand, it should be noted that the Rottweiler is a dog with a tendency to gain weight, so we will dedicate time to moderate physical exercise on one of its daily walks. Education is essential for the Rottweiler dog. We will start with socialization by introducing it to other dogs, animals and people from a young age. It is very important that it can interact in a varied and positive way. In this way, in the future, we will enjoy a sociable and fearless dog. Due to its large size and strength, it will be essential to work on canine obedience in depth. It may be helpful to consult a dog trainer to guide you through this process. You will teach them to sit, come here and stay still, among other commands, all of which are essential for their safety. In addition to basic obedience, you can also practice tricks and various exercises with a Revweiler, thus fostering your dog's canine skills. These types of activities are highly recommended as they enrich their daily lives, stimulate them mentally, and help us strengthen our bond with them. Finally, we should mention that the Revweiler is usually a relatively healthy dog with a life expectancy of between 8 and 12 years. The most common diseases that affect this breed are usually hip dysplasia or cancer, although regular visits to the vet can quickly detect their onset. It is very important important to strictly follow the deworming and vaccination schedule to prevent any possible viral, bacterial or parasitic infections. Good care and optimal health will ensure that our Revweiler is healthy and lives longer. And that's it for today's video.
