El veterinario también cuida de tu salud. ¡Celebramos el Día Mundial de la Salud!

This is a YouTube video titled "El veterinario también cuida de tu salud. ¡Celebramos el Día Mundial de la Salud!" published in April 2018. The video features a discussion between two speakers, Carlos and Toro Iglesias, both veterinarians, who explain the important role veterinarians play in public health beyond just caring for pets. They cover topics such as food safety, disease prevention, and the concept of "one health" linking animal and human health. The content is educational and aims to raise awareness about the veterinary profession's impact on society.
There are many other things that veterinarians do that you may not know, because, believe it or not, veterinarians are the cornerstone of public health. Hi, I'm Carlos, a clinical veterinarian at Small Animals. Welcome to the Happy Pets and Families Channel. We've finally reached 500. We're very happy because we've finally reached 500 subscribers. We wanted to thank you for watching our videos every Wednesday and for helping us continue growing and continuing with this channel. Today, we're not talking about puppies or kittens. Today I'm here to talk to you about myself. The Fifty Shades of Carlos. No, no, actually, I came to talk to you about the profession of veterinarian. Oh. Oh, what a shame. I wanted to tell you all my secrets. Well, Yosh will include images of puppies and kittens throughout the video so that you stay until the end. Meow. The intention of this channel has always been, of course, to talk about the health of your dog and cat, but also to highlight the value of the veterinary profession in society, which I believe is not highly regarded by many people. April 7th was World Health Day, and I wanted to take the opportunity to talk about this topic because, believe it or not, veterinarians are the cornerstone of public health.
What do you think of when we talk about health? Not having diseases, eating well, and living an active and full life. And all of this ultimately means being happy. When you realize that you are not healthy, the first person you think of is the doctor to treat your ailment. And right now you may be wondering what this has to do with the channel. No, you are not mistaken. This is not about knowing how to live. And I am not Dr. Toro Iglesias. But I can tell you in advance that when April 7th is celebrated, we veterinarians are a fundamental part of this celebration. Cuba forever. Free Cuba. Free Cuba. And of course, I'm sure you're thinking, why do you take care of the health of animals? Obviously, yes, but not only for that. There are many other things that we veterinarians do that are often overlooked and that you may not know about. When I talk to many people and I start to tell them how veterinary medicine influences health, I am surprised at how little is said about the subject and how little information society in general has. The reality is that the sole mission of the veterinarian is to take care of people's health through the health of animals. In short, our mission goes far beyond vaccinating your dog or cat. But how far does it go? Let's start with the health of your Pets and any diseases that you may catch. For example, your dog. What do you think about rabies? If your veterinarian did not vaccinate your dog against rabies, there would be many more cases of this disease. It would pose a serious risk to the health of your dog and your entire family. Okay, well, what a load of crap. I'm telling you, veterinarians take care of the health of pets. That's obvious. And not just your pets, we also take care of other animals, like cows, horses, birds, exotic species. I know, you knew this, right? But now I'm going to give you another example, something that you may not have thought of, and that is essential for everyone. Veterinarians also oversee food production. Not me specifically, since I work in the clinical field, but there's another part of veterinary medicine that's responsible for ensuring that the food that reaches human consumption is safe. In order for you to eat a steak that's healthy for you, a veterinarian has to have ensured that the veal it came from was healthy and that its meat doesn't cause you any harm. And now you're going to say, that's not for me. I'm a vegetarian. Okay, well, think about eggs or milk. If the milk weren't fit for consumption or the hens that lay the eggs were sick, you wouldn't be able to eat those foods. Furthermore, for example, cheese is made in an industry that could not be consumed if it were not made in a hygienic manner. And do you know who is in charge of controlling all that hygiene? Correct? You guessed it right, the vet.
But vegans are beyond your control, right?
But no. There you go. Vegans will also be people. They will go out on the street, to a restaurant, to a bar, to have a beer, to buy food at the supermarket or at the organic store on the corner. A vet has had to visit all of these establishments to check that they sell food in a way that is safe for the consumer. After all, if you think about it, what you call a health instructor is actually a vet who has always been there.
So the vet is the one in charge of food.
It's about food, also about water. Everything that you are going to eat, everything that can be ingested by people, a vet is in charge of. Okay? So in the end, we have a veterinarian who takes care of the health of animals, and a veterinarian who makes sure that all the food you are going to eat is healthy and safe for you. These are just two of our main professional skills, although they are important. Although There are many more. In the end, as you can see, the veterinarian has a much greater influence on your health than you might think. The that is why for some time now, we have been talking about the concept of one health, which means that both the health of people and the health of animals form a single entity because they influence each other. If an animal is not healthy, the people around it will not be healthy either. That is why I decided that on April 7, which is World Health Day, you should learn about the role of a person like me, of any veterinarian, and how they influence your health. With this video, I hope you have understood what the work of a veterinarian is and how we are in society ensuring that you can trust that everything you eat and drink is perfectly suitable for. Because I'm not going to say healthy, because industrial pastries are not healthy. And I hope I've changed your idea of the vet, even if it wasn't a good idea and that you value my profession a little more if you didn't already. I encourage you to leave us your opinion on this topic in the comments. I'm very interested in knowing what you think and whether what I've said has helped you change it or not. Well, you're starting to see. And yes, next week I'll talk about cute kittens and cuddly puppies again. So don't leave the channel.
You've talked enough about yourself today.
And yes, we've done enough self promotion. And that's it for today's video. If you liked it, give it a like and share it with your family and friends. Remember that you can join our Facebook group where we'll build a community and stay in touch. Thank you very much for following the Happy Pets and Families Channel. And I'll see you in the next video.
And please subscribe.
Oh, that. And subscribe. Oh my goodness, it's raining so hard. Hello. Hello. I was just watching. You can eat industrial pastries. And you know that eating a donut won't make you die, which is perfectly fine until you can eat it, right? Oh, yes. Oh, okay. Now, if your child stuffs himself with donuts every afternoon, then maybe the child is diabetic or something. He's behind me, right?
Otherwise there's a little noise in each video. You're not very convinced. Well, why? Industrial pastries aren't healthy.
I see that black eye there. Right there. Yes, it's clear that eating one isn't healthy, but eating one won't make you die.
Oh, that's what it's all about a little nervous with a camera. I mean. Then they should let you eat one, right?
What is clear is that you can't only feed yourself on sweets, but you can't only feed yourself on broccoli either. You're missing other things. I don't know what I told you. Broccoli itself doesn't harm the body. A donut does eat 3kg of oregano, for example. Let's see what happens to you. Broccoli.
Well, broccoli or whatever. I'm here listening to you. It's learning. Oregano is made in large industrial factories. I'm talking about a product that is also healthy versus a product that is garbage in itself. Let's end the video because it's going to start raining and I won't be able to finish the video.
