¿Es bueno que TU GATO DUERMA CONTIGO en la cama?😼🛏️😴 | Pros y contras

Veterinarian Carlos breaks down whether it's safe to let your cat sleep in your bed. He covers health risks like parasites and allergies, plus behavioral effects on your cat, and explains when co-sleeping might be a problem.
My morning routine. Every morning I wake up, and while I enjoy a delicious infusion, I start thinking about my daily chores. Then I also enjoy each day a little by doing some yoga and reflecting on the good and better things that life brings. Above all, I love waking up with my kitties in bed. But wait, is it good for us to sleep with our cats in bed? Hi, I'm Carlos, and it was about time I did something like a real YouTuber, but I'm actually a veterinarian. Welcome to the Happy Pets and Families Channel. I'm sure this question has crossed your mind more than once. Should you let your cats get into bed with you and sleep there all night? I've also found a lot of information searching the Internet, because I know you turn to the Internet to look for these things. That's why you're on my channel. And I've found very contradictory articles. Some that tell you it's very positive, others that tell you it's very negative. Let's try to shed some light on all this. Well, before we get into whether or not it's a good thing for your cat to sleep with you, let's bust a myth. Many people have asked me on more than one occasion if cat hair is really harmful to people. That's actually a myth. There's no scientific data to suggest that it's harmful if you don't have any health problems or allergies. I've even been asked if it can kill a person. Is it true that if a human accidentally swallows a cat's whisker, it can cause death? Well, leaving aside the fact that we shouldn't consider our cats a weapon of mass destruction, let's get to the important part. We should let them sleep in our bed. I'm going to give you some arguments in favor and some against. Because, as you know, life isn't all black and white. And at the end of the video, I'll give you my opinion. For one thing, is it true that our cats help us improve our health? We talked about this last week. It helps children improve their immune system. In fact, it makes them suffer fewer diseases. And it also helps prevent you from dying of a heart attack. See if there are any advantages to living with a cat. There are also some studies that claim that sleeping with our animal companions, whether dogs or cats, makes us feel more accompanied and much safer at night. However, if you sleep with your feline companion and your feline companion is a bit restless, the kind that is always jumping in and out of bed or at night is roaming around Your house. It is possible that you sleep a little less and feel a little more tired the next day. Or at least that is what some studies claim, because they do not let you enter a phase of deep sleep called the Ren phase. And even if they do not wake you up, they are not going to ensure that you have as restful asleep as you should. As always, I'll leave the studies here in the description box so you can take a look if you want. I've also found a lot of information online about being careful with the diseases that your cat can transmit to you if it sleeps with you in bed. Obviously he's referring to a general group of cats that may go outside or that aren't vaccinated or properly dewormed. These types of cats can carry a flea on them and transmit it to you if they sleep with you in bed. Or the flea can live inside your bed. And that's when things can get really, really bad. They can also transmit other external parasites to you, such as ticks or even internal parasites. As we know, our cats also have intestinal worms. Sometimes the eggs of these worms can get stuck in their fur and spread throughout your bed. It's not the most common way a cat can transmit internal parasites to you, but you have to keep it in mind. But all this I insist. If you don't have your cat properly dewormed and vaccinated, or if you also let it go outside, because outside it will encounter a lot of parasites that it wouldn't have if it lived only inside your house. So in view of all this information that, as I have said, is easily accessible, you can find it simply by searching a little on the Internet. What decision do we have to make? First of all, as I always say, you have to put your cat at the center of the decision. If you want your cat to sleep with you in bed, your cat has to want it before you do. You're not going to go to bed and take your cat, come sleep with me in bed. It has to be the one who voluntarily gets on and off your bed, comes to sleep at your feet. You don't have to force it because that can cause a great deal of stress in your feline companion. Additionally, it is possible that if you force your cat to sleep with you in bed, you are encouraging hyper attachment behaviors. Feline hyper attachment behaviors occur when our feline companion is very dependent on us. If you don't know exactly what that is, or it sounds a bit like gibberish to you, I'll leave you a video Here where we talk about this on the Happy Pets and Families Channel, which is very interesting. And I'll tell you everything you need to do to have a healthy relationship between you and your cat. And for all those people who say that your feline companion can transmit fleas and ticks to you, parasites in general, what you need to do if you want your cat to sleep with you is to go to the vet more often, have checkups more frequently, and deworm it externally at least once a month and internally at least once every three months. And above all, I wouldn't let your cat sleep with you if it has free access to the street, because even if you give it anti parasitic treatment today, it's possible that in two or three days it could come into contact with parasites, fleas or ticks, and that the anti parasitic treatment might not have as much effect. And then you'll have the same problem as if you hadn't given it to it. Not to mention the dirt or the things your cat might come into contact with on the street and all that stuff that we can't control if they go out. And for anyone who says that it can transmit a lot of diseases to you, that it's terrible for your cat to sleep with you, it must be said that the diseases that our feline companions can transmit to humans aren't that many. It's true that there are some, and we've talked about some of them on the channel, but most feline diseases are not transmitted to people. When would I not let my feline companion sleep with you? For example, if your cat has a skin disease such as ringworm or fungus, these diseases can be transmitted to people and that's why we should keep our feline companion away from us until they recover. Also, if your cat has any symptoms such as vomiting or diarrhea, you shouldn't let them into bed with you. Because sometimes diarrhea can be caused by bacteria and that bacteria can affect you or some type of parasite. In these cases, instead of letting your cat sleep with you in bed, if you want to keep them company and not make them feel alone because you're taking care of them, you should sleep near where they sleep, but they should sleep in their own bed, and you, for example, on the couch. Of course, there are two cases in which I don't recommend that you sleep with your feline companion under any circumstances. The first is if you're allergic to cats. Well, we've also talked about that on the Happy Pets and Families channel, but it's true that if you're allergic to your feline companion, it won't help if they sleep with you in bed because. Because you'll be surrounded by the substance that causes your allergy, even if your cat isn't there. As you know, animal allergies are caused by the dander that animals shed during their normal activities, even while sleeping. And related to this are immunocompromised or immunosuppressed people. Those who don't have a very well functioning immune system, very elderly people, or people who have some type of chronic illness, any illness, no matter how minor, that wouldn't cause any problems for other people, can affect these people much more. And the second case, which I think I've also talked about on the Happy Pets and Families channel, is that you shouldn't let your feline companion sleep with your baby because we can't control what the cat is doing all night. The cat may get close to the baby's head and prevent him from breathing, or may even lie on the baby's chest, preventing him from moving his little lungs. In these cases, due to the risk involved, it is better for the cat not to sleep in the crib. And if you are wondering how to make your feline companion accept the arrival of a new baby at home or anything related to the baby, we have talked about that in two videos on the Happy Pets and Families channel. I will leave them here and in the description box. And after all this, what I would do if your cat sleeps with you is to be a little more careful with the cleaning and use a vacuum cleaner and clean the mattress more frequently or change the sheets very often. But anyway, this is just my personal recommendation. And with all this, it is up to you to make the decision of whether you want your feline companion to sleep with you or not. And what I am looking forward to is for you to tell me in a comment what you decided and whether or not your cat has slept with you before. Also, if you liked the video, you have to give it a huge like and subscribe to this channel if you haven't already. If you don't click the bell, I can tell you that you won't find out when we upload new videos. You just have to click it and we'll see if YouTube notifies you. Also, I'm going to remind you that we have a secondary channel here on YouTube called Questions and Answers from a Veterinarian. Go to it and subscribe too. And today we're meeting these two enigmatic panthers called Gandalf and Sibula. Who live with Mari in Poland, although Mari is from Argentina. We also have these two big blue eyes who were rescued from a car engine when they were two months old by Natalia Olmeda and who are now two years old. And we say goodbye to Kato's large family, which is Touka, Tukuku, Tigris, Athena, Tiarapaloosa, Argamesa, Colita, Blanca, Polina, Jim and Pilota. And everyone greets us from Chile. Thank you very much for following the Happy Pets and Families channel. And I'll see you in the next video. Yes, but I'll burn myself to death if I spill the tea with the cups in my hands. I'm going to make Elisa Edvis so that Mari Morena can be heard there. I don't know if Mari Morena will be understood everywhere. Shut up. I'm so hot. You can't imagine. It makes me so hot. You can create it yourself if you don't press the bell. I'm telling you that you won't know when we upload a new video. Let's upload. I love waking up with my kittens, Totoro and the other one that doesn't have a name in my bed. Shut up. What was done in favor? What was done against? And then I'll talk to you about the things against to dismantle the things against a little bit. If you notice, I've been dismantling the things against a little bit. Sure, this is the polite way of putting it. But imagine that your cat gets diarrhea in the middle of the night in your bed. Let's see how that leaves you.
