Este GATO necesita una FAMILIA que lo ENTIENDA 🐱 (Onix)

This is a YouTube video titled "Este GATO necesita una FAMILIA que lo ENTIENDA 🐱 (Onix)" created on July 11, 2021. It features Santo Blonde, a photographer and social media manager at the Animus Damataro animal shelter, discussing the story of Onyx, a special needs cat with behavioral and health challenges. The video explains Onyx's background, the difficulties he faced in previous homes, and the specific type of family that would be suitable for his adoption to ensure his well-being and reduce stress.
Hello, how are you? My name is Santo Blonde. I am a photographer and social media manager at the Animus Damataro animal shelter Foreign, which is Onyx. Onyx is a beautiful gray cat who is over four years old. Onyx was adopted very young here at our shelter, at 7 months old and spent almost 3 years living with a family. What happened to Onyx? What was the problem? They didn't know how to manage Onyx's frustrations and fears. Well, in other words, when Onyx got too excited and they played with him, perhaps instead of continuing with a normal game, Onyx would throw himself at the leg, bite the arm or the hand. And so what did this family do? They would yell at Onyx, they would scold him, and this didn't do him any good, but quite the opposite. It created a rebound effect and all those fears and frustrations would double and triple. Then the situation became increasingly complicated and in the end he returned to our shelter. They returned him to us. We tried again with another family explaining all these problems, but we know that he is a very special case. And so now that we know him much better, what are his problems? For Onyx, we need a very special family, a family that does not have children, because we know that children see the world differently and for them the world is a game and also an invasion of their space. Onyx does not need this. He does not need anyone to invade his space or to behave very abruptly because then Onyx will react badly. And we know that in the end, if we give him to a family with children, we know that this cat will eventually come back to us again. Remember that animals, especially cats, are animals that get very stressed by changes. And that from now on, Onixik's case has to be looked at very carefully. We will have to give him to a family that does not have children and preferably also without elderly people. The case of elderly people is different from that of children in the case of elderly people. Elderly people need more care. And we do not want to create a problem that could exacerbate an illness that an elderly person may have. Okay? So for Onyx, we would surely need the right profile. It would be a family that was a single person or a couple who have experience with cats, who understand what Onyx's problems are and who above all want to work very well on his case. Require the help of an educator, a feline ethologist who will give advice on introducing this animal to the new home to check all those aspects that may cause fear or frustration in Onyx. To know how to manage them correctly and above all to take that into account. Geonics is a very special case. You can see him in the images. He is a beautiful gray cat, a Russian Azal type. And he draws a lot of attention. And many people ask us about Onyx, but we know that he cannot go to just any family. Adoption is not an exact for certain science. And above all, what we know and want is for an animal to end up in a suitable family. We don't want to create a problem for the family, nor for that family to be a problem for an animal that if we give it up so randomly will end up coming back to us and will generate more fears, more frustrations, and in the end it will be much more difficult to adopt it. Now, lately, what we have noticed in Onyx is that he has a slight limp and we believe that he may have a problem with his ligaments. Soniks has gained weight over time, and on the one hand we have to work on this, give him an adequate diet so that he can lose that weight, because being overweight in animals with joint, ligament and muscle problems and all of that is not beneficial at all. It could cause more pain and more problems in the long run. So that's also why it's very essential that we find an adoption home for Onyx, on the one hand, to work on those fears and on the other, so that all of this doesn't get worse in an animal shelter, it is very complicated to do a recovery. We have also talked about the importance of foster homes, and in this case it is the importance of an adoption home. An adoption home to provide proper food. Here in the shelter, it is very complicated because there are more animals living together and it is very difficult to give them a specific food that only this one can eat when sharing the space with others. So on the one hand, it is very important to find an option for Onyx for what I am telling you, for the issue of food. And on the other hand, so that these problems of frustration and fear and the management that he does can improve and be addressed. With Onyx, we can live together. He is a cat that is very sociable with people. In fact, here he demands our attention and wants to be with us. But you have to know how to manage it well. You have to play a game, interact with him, but in a certain way. And biting, which he can even do when faced with an unexpected gesture that he associates with something that might scare him. So we encourage you to write to us to ask about Onyx. Well, I'll give you a summary. He's a four year old cat who spent three years in a home. But they didn't know how to manage his case well. And so he created a problem that needs to be addressed. A suitable family, A person who lives alone or with a partner, who has experience with cats and who knows that they have to work on this case.
