GATO BOMBAY 🐱 ¡Características, cuidados y salud! 🐾

The Bombay cat breed comes from crossing sable Burmese cats with black American Shorthairs in the 1950s. These sleek black cats are affectionate and social, needing regular grooming and indoor living. They're prone to respiratory issues and eye problems, so veterinary care matters.
The Bombay Cat, a breed whose history began with inspiration from the wild cats of India, has become one of the most popular and beautiful feline breeds in the world. Want to know more? We'll tell you all about it in this new Animal Expert video. The Bombay Cat's origins date back to 1950 in Louisville, Kentucky, United States breeder Nikki Horner wanted to create a cat resembling a panther with short, shiny black hair. For this, she was inspired by the Black Leopard of India from the jungle book. In 1953, Horner began selectively breeding Bombay cats, starting with a black American shorthair cat with a sable coat. Finally, in 1976, the Bombay Cat was a black cat with shiny hair and copper colored eyes. A the Bombay cat stands out for having a muscular, compact and more agile body than its predecessor, the Burmese cat. Both its body and tail are medium in size. It undoubtedly stands out for its rounded face with a very short sole, as well as for having completely black pads and copper or gold colored eyes. The color of its coat is jet black, short, smooth and extremely shiny. Regarding its character, the Bombay cat is usually very sociable and affectionate. It enjoys the company of its family members and detests solitude, so it can sometimes suffer from separation anxiety. The Bombay cat loves to meow sweetly, to communicate its mood or to ask for something. Although it is usually quite a lazy cat, it is also a great lover of games and fun. For this reason, it is especially suitable for families with children and other cats. In addition, it is a particularly intelligent cat that can learn different tricks and exercises if positive reinforcement is used as the basis for its education. Discover five games to entertain your cat at home in the video that we have left for you here above. The Bombay cat having short hair does not require much care. Two weekly brushings will suffice to help remove dead hair and keep its coat shiny. It will also not be necessary to bathe it as cats clean themselves and bathing causes them to lose their natural protective layer. You can bathe it occasionally if it is very dirty or has something stuck to its coat. Always use specific shampoos for cats with dry cleaning shampoos or wet wipes also specifically for cats. On the other hand, its diet should always be high quality. Regardless of whether the Bombay is fed dry food, wet food or homemade food, it is important that it is of quality and suitable for this species. Therefore, if you opt for homemade food, do not hesitate to consult a veterinarian specialized in nutrition to avoid nutritional deficiencies. Finally, do not forget to clean its teeth. Make sure that it files its nails naturally and make sure that its ears are always clean. It is one of the breeds least prone to diseases and therefore one of the longest lived. They can live up to 20 years. However, some Bombay cats may suffer from skull malformation, a health problem inherited from their ancestors, the Burmese cats. To ensure your feline enjoys good health, we recommend visiting a specialist every 612 months and following their vaccination and deworming schedule.
