Gatos que NO PUEDEN HACER PIPÍ y PIEDRAS EN EL RIÑÓN 😿💧 | ¿Cómo evitar que pase? #FLUTD

This is a YouTube video titled "Gatos que NO PUEDEN HACER PIPÍ y PIEDRAS EN EL RIÑÓN 😿💧 | ¿Cómo evitar que pase? #FLUTD" created in June 2020. The content features a clinical veterinarian named Carlos discussing feline lower urinary tract disease (FLUTD), its symptoms, causes, and prevention methods, including stress management and diet. Another participant, Jose, also contributes with additional advice about diet quality and hydration for cats. The video is educational, aimed at cat owners to help them recognize and prevent urinary tract issues in cats.
Have you ever been told flut? And you were like, what are you talking about? Well, it's one of the most common reasons cats come to the clinic. Hello, I'm Carlos, a clinical veterinarian at Small Animals. Welcome to the Happy Pets and Families Channel. We all know how sensitive cats are when it comes to urine and litter. Well, if you follow me, you. You've probably seen that these are some of the words I repeat the most throughout the channel in almost all the videos where we talk about cats. Well, and also pheromones. The thing is that when cats have any kind of problem, it often manifests itself in the way they pee. And this is what we veterinarians call it. And we like to talk so that no one understands this flut or illness. Wait, I have to put it in order. It's in English. Feline, lower urinary tract disease. How nice. Among the diseases that comprise this is something that in Spanish we prefer to call it syndrome, because it's like many, many diseases. But anyway, among the causes that produce this flu, we find feline idiopathic cystitis, which is when the bladder becomes inflamed for an unknown reason, usually stress. On the other hand, we also find crystals or stones in the bladder. We can also find bacterial cystitis, although these are not very common. Even others that are less common, such as tumors, although there are also times when plugs occur in the urethra, which is the tube that goes from the bladder to the outside, which prevents urine from coming out. And how can you suspect that your cat is suffering from this disease? If you see that it goes to the litter box a lot, if you see that it doesn't pee, if you see that it urinates very little, or if the pee has a somewhat strange color, like if it were, for example, red wine, or if it is also a little pink. If before he peed inside the litter box and now he has started to do it outside, near the litter box, or in the area more or less where the litter box is placed. If your cat also feels a bit listless, doesn't want to eat, and sometimes vomits because the cat is feeling unwell, has a bit of a tummy ache, is a bit aggressive, a bit evasive, it's not that it's anything very, very, very specific, but these are things that can make us think about this type of problem, which is flu. You can see these signs associated with other diseases that also cause stress, but because they are also causing cystitis. I don't know if I'm explaining myself. But first of all, and I don't think I've come across this in any type of article written on the Internet or anything, I'm giving you this firsthand. It's really because in my clinical experience, many of you who come to the clinic whose cats end up having a flood because I diagnose it, tell me that their cat goes to the litter box and can't poo. But that's what you think. Your cat actually goes to the litter box and gets into a position to go to the toilet. But the position they're in and the force they're exerting is because they can't pee. Many times the bladder becomes so inflamed that it also prevents the poop from coming out because it's very, very inflamed. But what they really can't do is pee. It's also possible that if you're already starting to see these types of symptoms, you can do a little physical exam of your cat. A little, very little. If they let you, because sometimes they won't let you touch their belly because it bothers them. You can try to do a little palpation of the abdomen. Well, that's why we have Tatu here today, simply because, well, he has more or less the physiognomy that a cat can have, right? Like Totoro, which is a bit of a jug cat, to perform abdominal palpation in the bladder area. The bladder is located more or less here. You would have to do it like this with your hands. And there, if your cat starts to show cystitis, if the bladder becomes inflamed, you can feel something more or less like the size of a small hard apple. That is the bladder that is inflamed. And that is why your cat is showing all these symptoms. Be careful. It is not always visible, but if your cat lets you touch it and you can feel it, you should run to the vet. In these cases, all the alarms should go off, especially if your cat has been in some type of stressful situation before and before. I do not mean the day before, but it could have been a week or a couple of weeks before. It could be that you have changed the upholstery on your sofa, that you have changed the furniture and the distribution of how your cat has its things, or also that someone new has moved into the house. Also, if you've changed, for example, the diet, all these types of things have to click in your head and you say, oh, I've changed something. This could have caused Stress to my cat. And this could be the cause of the disease. Go ahead. Because they don't like it when you change anything. But much more so if your cat is fat, if your cat is male, and if your cat is neutered. These three are predisposing causes of suffering from flood. So if we combine everything I've just told you, we have more or less a clear diagnosis. In any case, you will have to go to your veterinary clinic, because in these cases it is very important to act as soon as possible. And why do I tell you that you have to run to the vet? Well, because the urine that is accumulating in their bladder is not good for anything. That urine can first affect the walls of the bladder, making them even more inflamed. But it will also accumulate inside the cat, all those waste substances that are normally expelled with pee and that will intoxicate your cat. In addition, if the urine accumulates for a long time, that urine can put pressure on the kidneys and end up leading to lifelong kidney failure. That is why it is very important that you go to the clinic at the first symptoms. Okay, well, that's the alarming message of the video. But as in all videos, I bring you a message of hope. How can you prevent your cat from suffering from flood? The way to prevent flut is to act against the predisposing causes. If we prevent your cat from suffering from stress, then we no longer have the cause that triggers many, many cases of flood. If you already anticipate that your cat is going to have a stressful situation, you can start cat proofing its environment beforehand. And this is when synthetic feline facial pheromones come into their own. I always tell you about them, but in these cases they help a lot. But there's nothing you can do about other predisposing causes, such as castration or being male. Of course. No, not in that case. But if your cat is fat, and Jose always gets ahead of him, he doesn't see the shreds, right? But he gets ahead of him. If your cat is fat because he's overweight, you'll have to try to play with him a little more. Make him lose weight, give him rationed food. As I've already told you in a video here on the main channel about how to make cats eat properly, you have to see. Yes, well, but most don't. And that's why you get ahead of yourself. I've made a playlist here on the main channel about causes of stress in cats and how to combat These causes of stress, such as moving, taking them on a trip or transporting them in the car, and all those types of.
Things that are a real ordeal for cats. In other words, this is a rehash video. It's not a rehash video. It's a super important video. The thing is that if we've already talked about these types of things on the channel, it's normal for you to refer to them. And I'm going to tell you a secret, a secret that is. I don't know if it's politically incorrect. This is another thing that I haven't seen out there because I don't know if there's any serious study or not. But according to my personal experience in the clinic, according to the experience of many other colleagues of mine, feeding your cat a low quality diet is related to them ending up suffering from these types of diseases, generally due to the production of crystals, due to the production of small stones in the bladder. Always, please, I recommend that you look for a good quality feed and to finish the rehash video that Jose says is not. It is very important that in order for cats to not suffer from this disease, they always have enough water available. You may wonder if how do I know if my cat drinks a lot? Or how do I know if my cat drinks a little? How much does my cat need to drink? How can I make my cat drink more water? Since this is such an important issue for the health of cats? Or surprise, we have already talked about it on the channel. I leave the video here for you. In that video, I tell you exactly how many milliliters your cat needs to drink. Write it down to always have it in mind. This is one of the reasons why veterinarians recommend a portion of wet food in the diet of cats. You can also help your cat avoid this disease if you feed it a canned wet diet for one of its meals a day. Because it will be incorporating more water into its diet and therefore it will also prevent the appearance of feline lower urinary tract syndrome or flood. And that's it. I hope this video has helped you. Did you know all this that I just told you? Hey, and if your cat has suffered from flood, please let me know in the comments if you have any kind of trick or advice that you would like to share with the community and that has helped you in this difficult situation. And that's it for today. Today's video. If you liked it, give it a like and share it with everyone. Hey, at the end of this, you have to tell me. And that. And not here. It's like now, the beginning. Wait a minute. That painting is crooked. Watch out for gold. And those words are going to come out today. And I'm going to tell you. Well, we'll see. Because I've said. Because I'm going to say, we all know how delicate cats are when it comes to urine and litter. And I think these have been some of the words I've repeated the most throughout the entire channel. Well, if you follow me, you'll already know that these are some of the. Well, if you follow me, you'll already know that these are the words. And I'm going to say. Well, and pheromones, like. And you're going to talk about that? I mean. Well, we'll see, we'll see. Something about pheromones, as always, if pheromones are spoilers. Yes, Feline lower urinary tract disease with a slightly listless belly. Right, listless. I've already said that. And what else? Or urinary tract disease. Damn. I don't have to think about it quickly. That's what we have here today. Well, to do, Veil. And much more. Feline idiopathic cystitis. Right, Feline idiopathic cystitis or flood. Ah. And what else did I say? Fat neutered. And I said something else. You caught me on how your cat had your things, not your.
