Tricolor cats hold deep cultural meaning in Japan, where they're considered symbols of good luck. The video explores the historical beliefs behind this tradition and what each color represents in Japanese culture.
Did you know that tricolor cats are a sign of good luck in Japan? And it's not just superstition. There's a lot of history behind it. The famous Maniquin Ku, the inviting cat, which you've probably seen with its paw raised like this, is often depicted as a tricolor cat. It's believed to be a cat that attracts fortune and prosperity. Could it be the Japanese equivalent of our Saint Pancras? In Japan, each color has its own meaning. Yellow represents wealth, white represents purity and black wards off evil spirits. But there's much more. Ancient Japanese sailors believe that tricolor cats brought luck to the entire crew. Not bad, really. And these aren't the only stories that say our cats bring good luck. The thing is, I don't have time to tell you all of them here, so if you're still a little curious, check out this video on our YouTube channel, Happy Pets and Families, where I'll tell you many more.
