Welcome to this new video from Animal Expert. If you have a cat, you probably relive the same story over and over again. Every Christmas, you put up the tree, the lights, the decorations, and the cat destroys all your work. Or at least that's his intention. Today we'll explain how to survive Christmas if you have a cat. As you know, felines are curious by nature. And when we put up the tree, they can't resist the temptation to live adventures at your expense. They'll try to climb on it, play with the electrical cables, or move the baubles with their paws. But how can we prevent them from getting hurt while keeping all the decorations intact? Let's see. First of all, we recommend that you choose an artificial tree, since the leaves of real fir trees are toxic to cats. In addition, they can accidentally get stuck in their limbs or cause a hole in their stomach if they ingest them. If you also have a kitten, we recommend that you opt for a small tree. If it falls on top of it, it won't hurt it as much. Also, make sure that the tree you choose has a solid base to prevent it from falling. It will also remain stable if your cat tries to climb it. But if you don't want to, give up on a real tree. But don't forget to place something around the base so that your cat can't get too close or drink the water when you water it. Many plants contain toxic products such as fertilizers that could poison your beloved feline. A good solution is to use aluminum foil. This material usually keeps cats away as they quite dislike it when their claws sink into it. When it's time to take down the tree, try to choose a time when your cat is asleep or in another room. This way you'll prevent it from trying to play with all the balls and lights. When decorating the tree, leave the bottom unfilled so that it can't reach the balls so easily. When you're done, let your cat smell and explore everything. Reward it. If it doesn't, try to climb up with a good or a pet. But if it does try to climb, it's best to place some type of object that prevents it from getting too close, such as a small fence. Some decorations can be really dangerous for cats. We're talking about objects that spin, make noise or lights with wires. Be very careful and keep them away from your cat. You should also completely avoid decorations that contain chocolate. It's very toxic to them. The best option is to choose balls made of fabric or very resistant materials. Glass, for example. Should be avoided. Some useful tips. You can place the tree in a strategic place where the cat can't reach it. But be careful. The furniture around it could serve as a ladder. If you put the lights on the tree, you'll probably have too many cables. You can tie them up with a rubber band or adhesive tape and then secure them to the floor. This way, you'll prevent your cat from being attracted to the movement. Don't forget that cables can be very dangerous, not only because of the current. They can also contain toxic or harmful materials if they try to eat them. We must also remember that all these details can be adapted depending on the cat. If yours is lazy and calm, you probably won't need to strictly follow these tips to keep it safe. But if your cat is tireless and full of energy, you should take many precautions, especially if it spends many hours alone at home. Some people even attach the tree to the ceiling. That's it for today's video. If you liked it, don't forget to give us a like and subscribe to our channel. And don't forget to comment to tell us what your cats do with the tree.
