La historia de Chispa: una perrita con leishmaniosis

Rossy and her husband rescued a dog named Chispa who has leishmaniasis, a serious parasitic disease. The video follows their journey treating her and caring for her, with help from a veterinarian, to show what it takes to help a sick animal survive.
And now for a. Would you do it again? Hello and welcome to the Happy Pets and Families Channel. I'm Carlos. I'm a small animal clinical veterinarian. And today I'm going to tell you about the experience of having a dog in the family who suffers from leishmaniasis. As I'm sure you already know, leishmaniasis is a disease that is transmitted between dogs through the bite of a mosquito. The mosquito injects a parasite into the dog that infects its defense cells, causing the animal to suffer from a series of problems and complications resulting from this disease. Antiparasitic methods are the most effective way to prevent your pet from getting leishmaniasis. If you want to know more about leishmaniasis, I've left a link in the description box that will take you to a very interesting article with all the information you need. Join me to meet Ros and her family who will tell us about their experience of having a dog with leishmaniasis in their home, how to care for it, and how this dog completely changed their lives. Hi, my name is Rossy. Let me introduce you to Teezy. She's a dog that we took in from the street and she's brought us a lot of love and affection here at the family. We named her this because she was in really bad shape when she arrived. She had a little rope around her neck. They wanted her to be like a bow. And she was emaciated. So we said, what should we name her? Well, Teezy from Tysica. Then? Well, she changed. She looks like lightning and most of the time we call her Spark because she's like a spark. She's here as soon as she's there. How did you decide to pick her up?
Well, the animal appeared at the door of the house. At first we decided to bring her home, but just feed her until she got better a little bit. And then we would take her to the pound because we had had a previous experience with a mastiff that we suffered a lot with, that died. And, well, we didn't want any more dogs. My husband didn't want any more dogs because he had suffered a lot with them. Days went by. Days went by and we began to love her. She loved us. And here she is. She has been with us for about three years.
Three years. Chispa has leishmaniasis. You already knew about leishmaniasis because you had another dog that had leishmaniasis because there is a lot of leishmaniasis here in this area. How did you find out that she had it. Well, when we decided that she would stay with us, we. We took her to the vet. The vet did a checkup, did some tests, and told us that she had leishmaniasis. Yes. We had a family meeting, my two daughters, my husband and I, and we decided whether or not to keep her. Since we had the previous one, we knew what the consequences would be. After little deliberation, because we didn't deliberate much, we decided to keep her. Okay. We started treatment and she started to respond. Well, I mean, the dog is great and phenomenal. Apart from that, we've had to operate on her twice, all due to her phlegm. We've had to operate on her face because of a very large phlegm that had an infection or not. Well, many people don't. Others do tell us that they know the consequences. It has, right? Yes. The vet also told us to try to find out if there were people in the house who had low defenses, immunosuppressed. Okay. No, no, no, no. That we didn't have it. Okay. But since we are all healthy here at home, thank God we caught it. But anyway, if you tell people, most of them do know what it is. Most people do know what it is.
Especially since there's no cure for this disease. It. It only has palliative treatment. The most important thing about this disease is prevention. And for all the dogs that live in areas where the disease is endemic, the most important thing is to have the animal well prepared. And now for a question that I think we have already answered. Would you do it again? Yes, definitely.
Definitely.
I have no doubt about it. I would do it again.
Sure. Would definitely do it again.
This girl will certainly always be grateful to you because she knows what you have done for her. Sure. Rossy and her family are an example for all of us. Because in addition to having other pets, they decided to open the doors of their home and their hearts to an animal that needed their help in the most difficult moments of its life. Chisp also came to their home to change everything and to show that in the same way that they had given her all their love, she could return it to them, multiplied by 100, sincerely thanking them for everything they were doing for her. Although there is no cure for lismoniasis, by following all her treatment and the instructions given by her veterinarian, she can be a perfectly happy animal and can give a lot of love to a family that loves her. And that's it. For today's video, we have brought you the wonderful story of Chispa. From tz. We are very grateful to her family for what they have done for her and she surely appreciates it too. I think she is fully aware of what her family has done for her and we also thank Rosie and her entire family for telling us this beautiful story that makes us have hope in human beings and how they can help animals. If you liked the story, give it a like and share it with your family and friends so they know that an animal that is treated well for leishmaniasis can have a full and happy life. It is not giving it a death sentence. If you have also rescued a dog that had a serious illness such as leishmaniasis and you want to tell us about your experience, you can share it in the comments so that we can all raise awareness in society that we have to rescue animals in need because we are their only hope. See you in the next video. Come with me to meet them.
I want you to see the other members of the family too.
Or let's meet them while they are scratching you. You don't even move, do you? Oh, what a girl.
But how? Let's meet him. Honey, stay with the dog.
Is that okay with you? Yes, yes. Okay.
