Las serpientes culebras - Cuidados básicos

Nuria explains how to care for Lampentus snakes, covering their habitat needs, feeding, and handling. She covers practical advice for keeping these snakes in captivity, filmed at Deserty Habitats facilities.
We are at the Deserty Habitats facilities. My name is Nuria and today we are here to introduce you to the Lampentus snake. Oh, they are the Propentus getula as they are commonly known. Let's see. The one my partner has is the California king snake. And this would be an albino Lampentus. They are from the genus Culebridae in. In other words, they are the famous garter snakes. As you can see, they are very active and never sit still. They are animals that are found throughout the Arizona and New Mexico areas and they are very similar to the genus Leif Gutta. It is not the same, but they are similar. The temperature for these animals to be alive in a terrarium has to be between 25 and 26. Their humidity level is usually between 50 and 60%. We must keep in mind that when these animals become dull and their eyes turn white, we must increase the humidity to 70 to 80% so that molting is quick and easy, since a molt that gets stuck in their body can bind them, which can cause them to feel oppressed and prevent them from eating or breathing properly. In captivity, these animals need a tropical terrarium, especially one with a waterfall where they can get in and where they can also take shelter from the heat so they can molt as they should. They are animals that theoretically do not need ultraviolet light, but a 2.0 level is always good for them so that they can metabolize it properly at meal times. These animals usually eat live mice. What we do have to keep in mind is that for this size, when you put a live rat in them, remember that if they have not eaten it in two or three hours, you should remove it. The rat can bite them and cause them injuries. We have to keep in mind that when this animal eats, its temperature cannot fall below 28 grams so that they can digest it properly and not vomit the entire animal because they swallow it whole, strangle it and swallow it. Ah, they are animals that are easy for beginners to keep. They are easy to heaven with the person who feeds them. They get used to the smell very quickly. You can see that here we have them rolled up in our hand. They are still, well, still as much as possible because they are very, very nervous and very activ. Thank you for watching these videos. I hope they have been helpful when it comes to keeping exotic animals in captivity.
