Los GATOS NARANJA son diferentes 🐈🧡 | ¿Qué dice la ciencia? 📚

Veterinarian Carlos explores what makes orange cats different, covering their behavior, genetics, and size. The video mixes science with personal stories and asks viewers about their own cats.
Foreign Hi, I'm Carlos and I'm a veterinarian. Welcome to the Happy Pets and Families channel. Okay, I'm sure you've seen the video on the channel where I talk about what cats are like, what their personality or cat like nature is like, depending on the color of their fur. I'm sure you've seen it because it's the most watched video on the channel that has the most visits. Let's go. But in that video, I made a practically unforgivable mistake that people periodically remind me of, and that is that I didn't talk about or didn't give the place they deserve to. Yellow or orange cats. And it's true that these cats have a series of characteristics in terms of their behavior, their cat like nature or, well, their physique that make them very special. In fact, while I was writing the script for today's video, I had some surprises that I didn't know about and that I'm sure you didn't either. As I always tell you, I'll leave all the scientific studies I've used to bring you this video link below in the description box so you can take a look if you want to know a little more. Let's go. First, I'll talk about a series of characteristics of yellow or orange cats that are really surprising. Well, to start, yellow or orange cats do not have a solid color. The pattern of their fur is always, or almost always tabby. Another thing is that when we see them with the naked eye, especially some cats, the stripes are more or less obvious. You'll be able to tell because most yellow or orange cats have the classic M mark on their foreheads, like the cachoefo also has, for example. Also, I have to tell you that it's quite difficult to find a cat yellow. And in fact, yellow male cats are more common than female cats. It's difficult because color, as I've told you on other occasions on the channel, is associated with the different genes of our cats. Specifically, yellow and black depend on the X chromosome, which is the female sex chromosome. Female cats have two X chromosomes and male cats have one X chromosome and one Y chromosome. What happens is that when there is only one gene for yellow, if that gene is present, it blocks the gene for black. Therefore, since cats only have one X chromosome, if they have a gene for yellow, they will be yellow. But females, since they have two X chromosomes, if they have a gene for yellow and a gene for black, instead of being yellow or black, they will have everything mixed together. For a cat to Be yellow. The gene must be on both of its X chromosomes, which is why there are far fewer yellow cats. Although I encourage you to tell me right now if your cat is yellow, because I am convinced that there is one among my followers. Another very curious thing is that yellow cats tend to be larger. There is a sexual dimorphism called, that is, the male is considerably larger than the female. And although it may seem silly to you, this is really important because generally larger cats are more dominant because, well, they have more physical power. If there is a cat that comes around to take what they consider to be theirs, they will be able to confront that cat in a better way because they are stronger. And this will necessarily influence the character of yellow or orange cats. But let's move on to the next interesting fact, because something that has really caught my attention and that I didn't know is that orange cats are much more common in rural environments. And this is because cats behave a little differently in rural areas in towns than in cities. In a town, cats will generally have more space. Well, because humans are not as present. So a male cat's domain will be much wider. However, in cities, human activities will leave less space for cats because they may only be able to establish their colony in a very small patch of park or in a garden between buildings. That is perhaps why females in rural environments tend to only have one mate. However, in urban environments, it is more common for females to have more than one male cat mate and have offspring. Since the environment is larger in rural areas, the male cat will be able to defend it much better. If a cat approaches that he does not have much control over, he is more likely to come and defend his territory. Within his territory are the colonies of females, and that is why it will be the dominant cat that ends up having offspring with the females. In urban environments, on the other hand, since there will be more cats, there will be much higher density. It will be much more complicated for him to defend his territory. The yellow cat, I mean. And so it is easier for a less dominant, less powerful cat to be successful and have offspring with female cats. In addition, it has also been observed that yellow cats tend to have a somewhat bolder behavior, and that is perhaps why their survival is lower in areas where there are more dangers, where there are more risks. In the city, there are many dangers for our cats, such as dogs, traffic, and garbage, which can make the life of yellow cats in those areas shorter. Why? Well, because they are more exposed to risk. While other cats will seek shelter at the slightest noise or something. They do not control. The yellow cat does not. All these traits that are present in yellow or orange cats will shape their cat like nature. And there are precisely some characteristics that are very present in them. And I have to tell you that according to the scientific articles that I have been consulting, there are some characteristics of the cat nature of yellow or orange cats that have surprised me a lot because I thought they were completely opposite. Now I will tell you what they are. First of all, yellow or orange cats are quite extroverted. They like to have contact with people and be seen, even if they do not know those people well. This may be because since these cats are larger, they are more powerful. They are also aware of their strength. They know that they can dominate any type of situation that comes their way. And that is why they are less afraid of having contact with people, because if things get a little ugly, they will be able to defend themselves. And as you can see, this is closely related to what I told you before. They put themselves at risk much more often. They are perhaps more unaware of danger, more trusting. Let's go. Another characteristic that I have seen in many studies is that yellow or orange cats are extremely intelligent. And that is why it is much easier for them to learn things. This is an advantage because when it comes to living with people well, they will know a little bit better what the house rules are, how everything is organized. But it will also help them to tolerate some things that many cats don't do well. For example, going out to the park on a leash, they will understand that this type of activity does not pose any danger to them. If we also add to this the fact that they are animals that are less fearful, they are not as scared by small noises, etc. They will tolerate these types of walks quite well. Of course. Well, studies say this, but as a veterinarian, what I recommend is that if you decide to take your cat out into the street, well, always do so after having trained it properly. Although it is still a practice that I do not recommend because it can lead to somewhat dangerous or difficult situations or ones that increase the stress of our feline companion. And there is no need to make it go through this. I have to put this here because otherwise I won't be able to stay calm. Now I'm going to tell you about the characteristic of the cat like nature of yellow or orange cats that surprised me the most because I don't think I've ever had the same experience. Studies say that these types of cats are quite calm. And the truth is that from my experience and well, from that of most people I know, I can't tell you the same. Almost all the yellow or orange cats that I know are quite restless. They're running around all day inventing things to do to hunt around the house. In fact, they're the type of cats that come the time of the feline warner night and are practically fireproof. And I think you'll agree with what I'm saying rather than what the studies say, because most people online and in the comments you leave me on the videos and so on usually tell me that your yellow or orange cats are, well, like dynamite. Let's go. That's why if you live with a yellow or orange cat, let me know in the comments what their cat personality is like so we can see who wins. The calm cats are the cats that are a tremendous earthquake for all this. We will be surprised that one of the traits that studies have shown in our yellow or orange cats, and I am completely convinced that you will agree, is that these types of cats are very friendly. They have a very special relationship with their human companions and are also very attached. They always seek contact, a little affection. Well, those types of things that all of us who are quite feline, love. In any case, the characteristics of the cat nature of our cats, our feline companions will be greatly influenced by other aspects such as age, gender or the experiences or experiences that our cat has had. A kitten that has only known humans and has had a more or less comfortable life inside a house is not the same as a kitten that has been rescued who may have suffered abandonment or mistreatment on the street. Logically, the cat nature of these cats will be very different and perhaps even if they are yellow or orange, they will be a little more afraid or a little more reluctant to have contact with other humans. Therefore, although this video is very good for learning a little about the characteristics and general features of yellow or orange cats, when we are going to live with one, we always have to make life as easy as possible for them. When they are going to enter our home, make a proper adaptation and approach them with. Well, since we have to approach cats without them seeing us as an intimidating person, but rather they see us as someone quite approachable, we approach them carefully, putting ourselves more or less at their level so that the cat can gain a little trust with us and our relationship starts off on the right foot because as I always say, each cat is different. In any case, it is possible that you know other yellow orange cats that do not respond to all of the things I have just told you in the video. If so, leave me a comment and tell me what their cat nature is like and if they are exactly the same as what I have described. That way we can see if the studies have been correct. If you like the video, you can also give me a like. And remember to subscribe to the channel if you haven't already. You can also give us a super thank you. If you want to support us a lot. And don't leave yet, because we have to meet. This week we could only feature yellow or orange cats. Here we have Marvi, who lives with his human partner Marcos in Malpica de Tahoe Toledo. Here we have these two little guys called Nemo, Gordo and Boris. They live with their human partners Jose and Norma in Quito. And we don't leave Ecuador because here we have Mica, who is Zeus's mom. They live with their human partner Alexander, precisely in this country. Thank you very much for following the Happy Pets and Families channel and we'll see you in the next video. Don't look at me, look at the people now. Yes, look, kitty. Let's see what he's going to do there. And now wait, a quick note, because it may not have been clear, because I don't think I said it. And I said if one is yellow and the other is this, it will be. Care if you want one of the titles with orange and the second of the titles with yellow. But anyway, I want to say it like this because they can be said in both ways, you know, it's the same there, not different. What happens is that I always want to put them as synonyms. Oh my gosh. What a bitch's life. What a cat's life. What everything, right? Look how it's like. He's forced here. This cat is forced here. Oh my gosh. Have you seen the amount of hair? Kiss, kiss. Well, I've said a lot of things that I hadn't said, right? And the last personality trait, I'm not saying the last one right.
