¿LOS GATOS VEN FANTASMAS? 👻🙀| La verdad de POR QUÉ MIRAN FIJAMENTE A UN PUNTO 👀

This is a YouTube video titled "¿LOS GATOS VEN FANTASMAS? 👻🙀| La verdad de POR QUÉ MIRAN FIJAMENTE A UN PUNTO 👀" published in October 2024. The content features a veterinarian named Carlos discussing common cat behaviors, specifically why cats stare fixedly at certain points. He explores scientific explanations related to cats' sensory abilities such as whiskers detecting vibrations, advanced hearing, and their crepuscular nature, debunking supernatural theories like seeing ghosts. The video is educational and includes personal anecdotes and viewer engagement prompts.
Foreign Hi, I'm Carlos and I'm a veterinarian. Welcome to the Happy Pets and Families Channel. Lately, I've noticed that the cat has a bit of strange behavior that many of you have told me your cats also have. Many times he stares at a fixed point like this, without moving a muscle in his body, like. Like a stone, like a statue. As if there were something there that he could perceive, but that I couldn't see. In fact, what caught my attention the most is that he does it more or less always at the same time and almost always in the same place. At the kitchen window, he starts looking at one of the walls and becomes entranced. But wait, it doesn't end there. Sometimes after staring at that point, he starts running around the house. And then, as if something had scared him. Can cats see ghosts? And since you know me, and I'm not a fan of these supernatural things, I've started investigating to see if we can find a scientific explanation for this matter. For this video, I haven't consulted any mediums or fortune tellers. All the studies I've used to bring you this information are listed below in the description box. And if I tell you that your cat can detect small vibrations with its face, and they do this thanks to their whiskers and eyebrows, this type of hair has a slightly more special conformation than the rest of the hairs that your cat has on its body. If you look at them, they're quite thicker and much longer underneath. There are a lot of blood vessels and many more nerve endings, which gives these hairs the ability to perceive little things, to perceive small movements or even air currents. That's why it's possible that your feline companion is detecting a presence that you haven't been able to see. It doesn't matter if it's a little bird, a small buzzing of a fly, they can detect all of this thanks to their whiskers. And of course, these whiskers also help them see at short distances. They are tactile organs that help them orient themselves, for example, in their food bowl. Another thing that can make your feline companion freeze completely still, as if they had seen a ghost, is that they perceive something through their ears, that they hear sounds that our human ears are unable to capture. Cats have a much more developed hearing capacity than people, but not only that, they can also move their ears, orienting them towards the place where the sound is coming from, to focus a little more and see if, for example, some prey is moving around there. But there is something else that makes them super special. Have you ever heard of selective deafness? It is an ability that our cats have that allows them to more or less ignore everyday sounds that they are completely accustomed to in order to focus on those that are completely new. I'm sure you've noticed that you can be at home making all the noise in the world, like vacuuming or watching tv, but all it takes is for another member of your family to turn the keys in the door, for your cat to raise its head and run to see who's coming in. Its hearing is capable of isolating all those sounds that are part of the background noise to focus on those that interest it. For example, its favorite human coming over. This cat does this a lot. For example, it spends the afternoons lying here on the couch, and suddenly something outside the window catches its attention and it runs to find out what's going on. It could be that someone is breaking into its house and stealing its food. This could explain why some cats suddenly stay home staring at the ceiling. Maybe they've heard your upstairs neighbor making a little noise, and so they want to know what's going on. But if you don't have upstairs neighbors, well, I wouldn't get involved. And something you probably know is that our cats don't see life exactly the same way we do. I'm not referring to the fact that they perceive some colors more than others, but rather that they see life in slow motion. This is an advantage that our cats have had in order to survive in the natural environment, because they are able to better perceive the movements that are happening. Since they see them more slowly, they can anticipate the movement that their prey is going to make and thus hunt it more easily. That's why it's possible that your feline companion, while quietly at home, suddenly starts to pay attention to some point because it has seen a small mosquito or a small insect that has come in through the window, or, I don't know, one of those nocturnal butterflies that may catch its attention. It is simply observing how its prey moves to see if it has the opportunity to catch it. But of course, it could be that this movement is very, very small, and that your cat simply watches it for a long period of time until it more or less lowers to its height, and then, bang. It takes it to its mouth with a swipe of its paw. But of course, all this that I'm telling you explains why our cats start staring at a point. But why do they often do it when there's not so much light? When it's nighttime, that's the time when ghosts manifest. The explanation in this case lies in the type of behavior and personality that our cats have. Felines, in general, are crepuscular animals, and in fact, cats tend to be more active when night falls, when there's not so much light. Well, you'll be sick of seeing it in your cat, who sleeps away the day and who, at around 9:30 or 10 at night, looks like he's been wound up and can't stand still. And if we add to this that at that time, for example, we turn on the lights that can attract small nocturnal animals, which can even cast shadows that catch your cat's attention. Well, there we have it. Your cat is more aware of everything that is happening because he is more awake. But there are also more movements that can catch his attention. Well, after all this research that I have been doing, I think my theory is confirmed. And as disappointing as it may be because it is Halloween, and who doesn't like a good ghost? I think that our feline companions are not capable at the moment of seeing them unless they study it in the future and prove it to me. But then why is the artichoke always looking at a fixed point in that same window? Well, I started observing him, and I discovered some things in that window right on the wall. There is a ventilation grill in the facade through which bugs can enter and leave. That surely catches the cat's attention. But there's also a tree right in front of it, and the leaves move in the wind and cast shadows that also catch the cat's attention. That's why that's his favorite pastime, Looking to see what's going on there and why he hadn't been informed that this was happening in his house. And that's why, if your feline companion is one of those who, so to speak, sees ghosts and you're intrigued by his behavior, what you have to do is start investigating what's going on there. Observe where he's looking. If there's a little crack, if there's a cobweb that you missed, or maybe it was your upstairs neighbor walking by making a very, very faint sound that you didn't hear and your cat did. And if you can't find any explanation and you think that, yes, that there are ghosts, well, hey, perfect. Go ahead. They probably are ghosts. But don't count on me. I'm just a veterinarian. You know who to call. But this is what I say. Now, what I'm looking forward to is reading your theories. Why do you think your cat stares at a Fixed point. Leave me a comment and tell me your anecdotes because we want to stir things up in the community. Also remember that you can give us a like and subscribe to the channel if you haven't already. And if you want to support us a lot, you can give us a super thanks. We also have a secondary channel called Questions and Answers from a veterinarian. Come and take a look and don't leave yet, because here we have to meet these two beauties called iru, who is from Seville, and wsp, who is from Tarifa, who live with their human partner, Ash. And this little guy has a talent that only the big ones can have. His name is Tchaikovsky, and he lives with his human partner Nicholas, in Bogota. We say goodbye to these two little girls named Obi and Camila. They greet us from Guayaquil, Ecuador, with their human partner, Pamela. Thank you very much for following the Happy Pets and Families channel. And we'll see you in the next video without supernatural presences. This kitten, my goodness, who has to be here on the channel so that people can see that he's fine, that he's here at home. Comfortable, right? Are you comfortable? Come on, show me your best face. And he stares completely. And suddenly he freezes fixedly. And like a stone staring at a point that I don't know. And the truth is that as you may be suspecting at this moment, and as you may be suspecting, the answer is probably. And as you may be suspecting, we can give you answers they don't have the ability to just. Oh, what's up? You're leaving already? Come on. Come on, run. Go look out the window. What I think is really happening is that. Uh, no. Uh. Or maybe it was your neighbor upstairs who ran over. No. Okay, yes. The one who divided the inheritance last year. Yes. That guy you haven't seen on the landing for seven years. Well, I don't mean to say he's dead. Well, listen, tell me if you already know who you have to call, right? Who do you have to call? The ones we have. If he made you a blanket, he's made a blanket. Blanket. I'm detecting an ectoplasm or an ectoplast, I don't know. You haven't pooped, cat. Oh, very kitty. Very kitty. He's asleep. I'm sweating and I'm going to. Come on, you're going to sweat with me. Look, get down here on the blanket next to me. Your head is going to spin and we're going to have to call an exorcist, not you.
