A guide to dog breeds that shed the least hair, including Boston Terriers, Bichons, Greyhounds, Water dogs, and American Hairless Terriers. The video covers what makes these breeds low-shedding and includes grooming tips for keeping them healthy.
Hello and welcome to this new video from Animal Expert. Today we're going to talk about the dogs that shed the least. To begin, it's important to highlight that all dogs shed some hair, even if it's in minimal or practically imperceptible amounts. However, there are some breeds or crosses between breeds that have certain characteristics that mean their fur barely sheds. What are these characteristics? Dogs with very, very short hair, which we could describe as shaved, tend to shed a minimal amount of hair that is barely noticeable due to its length. The only slight shedding is during shedding, which takes place during spring and fall. Dogs with curly hair and a wool like texture do not shed their hair and therefore lose it like other breeds do during these months of the year. This fact makes these dogs characterized by having a coat that never stops growing. To avoid unsightly knots or excessive heat, it is recommended to take these dogs to the groomer in order to trim any excess hair and perform proper maintenance of their coat. Finally, the so called hairless dogs, as their name suggests, have practically no hair and do not shed it either. The Boston Terrier has a soft, short coat, has little odor and is a dog that could be classified as easy to train. It is also calm, barks little and loves to be with family and children. Due to the characteristics of its coat, it practically does not shed, making it an ideal dog breed for those people who do not have time to brush them or be constantly cleaning them. Although Bichons are breeds of dogs that have a good volume of hair, they practically do not shed any. However, Bichon type dogs such as the Frise, the Bolognese and the Maltese need great care of their hair. They require daily brushing. Likewise, we must also pay special attention to the care of their eyes, tear ducts and ducts to keep them well groomed. The Greyhound is a dog with very short hair. We include the Spanish Greyhound and the English Greyhound in this group. They are active and extremely noble dogs, so they are perfect for those who have a garden, a house near the mountains or practice sports. Although they are dogs that need high doses of daily exercise, they are very calm dogs indoors. Water dogs, such as the Poodle, the Spanish water dog or the Portuguese water dog practically do not shed hair, so they are ideal for people with allergies. Of course, as with the Bichon, the coat of water dogs requires specific care as it has very curly hair with a consistency similar to wool. The Ewers are small and have long hair, but they hardly shed hair. Like almost all the dogs mentioned above, they need to be combed regularly to prevent tangles and dirt. They are also perfect dogs for sociable and above all, very territorial homes. On the other hand, you must follow certain daily grooming rules and keep their eyes, tear duct area, snout, and above all their teeth clean. Like all small and miniature breeds, Yorkies tend to accumulate a lot of tartar, so you must regularly brush their teeth. Of course, the American Hairless Terrier could not be left out of our list of dogs that do not shed hair. A dog characterized precisely by the absence of a coat. Therefore, with a body practically without any hair, it is obvious to conclude that it therefore has no fur to shed. It is a small dog, approximately 40 centimeters tall, active, intelligent, affectionate and with an elegant appearance. It is perfect for all those people who do not have enough time to dedicate to grooming their dog's hair. Of course, the fact that it has no hair does not mean that this dog requires special care, since its skin is exposed and must be protected from sunlight during the hottest months and from the low temperatures during the winter. In addition to these six breeds that do not shed hair, there are others that tend to shed very little, such as the Chinese Crested Dog, the Dashkin or Tekle, the Snoutzer, the Shih Tzu, the Bansengi, the Kolai, the Cotton Tuller or the Greyhound. Remember that all mixed breed dogs from the breed crosses we have mentioned usually have the same coat and therefore do not tend to shed much hair. And that's it for today's video.
