Mantenimiento y cuidados básicos de la Serpiente del Maíz 🐍 | Serpientes | KIWOKO

Corn snakes need daily health checks, regular tank cleaning, and precise temperature control to stay healthy. The video covers escape prevention, humidity management, and basic maintenance routines for keeping them safe in captivity.
Foreign Today, in this video we're going to talk about the care and maintenance of the corn snake. But before we start, I'd like you to leave me a name in the comments because I think it would be cool. Also, I'd like to remind you that snakes usually have to be kept very, very under surveillance, which is why we need to keep a lock on our terrarium to prevent them from escaping. So we're going to open the lock and tell you everything that comes next. Here are some tips for the daily check up. First, check the devices. A lighting system that turns on and off. Also important, the heating system. Remember that these snakes need a constant temperature, especially if you live in a cold place. The temperature we've given it is between 24 and 32 degrees. This is important and should be checked every day. Another important thing to check is the relative humidity. For that we have a hydrometer which is also checked every day. On the other hand, cleaning, care and water change. This has to be done daily. These animals always need fresh and clean water. On the other hand, and that's it. We can do this every two or three days. It means checking that there is no excrement, checking that the animal has not molted. Right. Remember that they are reptiles and they shed their skin as they grow. And it is important to remove these molts and excrement if we do not want to have problems with ectoparasites inside the terrarium. A check that I also like to do every two or three days so as not to stress the animal, is to see how the animal is. For that, in this case you will have to lift the cave. Check that the animal is fine and responds to stimuli. And here I will give you a tip. Lift it carefully. If the snake is asleep, lift it a little so that some light from the terrarium comes in. And with some tweezers you can very gently touch one of the sides of the snake so that it notices that there is activity. Activity. When it wakes up, you can offer it your hand. These animals in some stages, especially when they are young, because they do not have much contact, may be willing to touch you and try to bite you. They do not do anything. They are completely harmless animals. They do not have poisons, they do not have fangs. So do not worry. But of course, if you don't wake the animal up properly, the stimulus will tell the animal something's wrong. Bam. And you might get bitten. But don't be scared, they're harmless. Other maintenance that you have to do, and this is important, you can't leave it to. Once a month you have to dismantle everything, take out all the decorations. Take out, in this case, that we've put this carpet, clean it well. It's a solution of water with dishwashing soap. It's the best there is. 1 liter of water, 10 milliliters of soap, mix it well and with a rag, clean it well. Dry everything. And this helps us reduce one of the big problems that snakes can suffer, especially house snakes, which is the appearance of lice. They are small mites that bother the animal because they also suck its blood. If you want to reduce this from happening, when caring for your snake, you have to take everything out and keep it clean. Like any animal, it's important to do this that the hygiene conditions are optimal. It is also important that when doing the checks, and especially if you open the terrarium, you confirm that you close it afterwards and have all the safety devices in place, because this prevents the animal from escaping. And snakes are magnificent escape artists. Well, follow us in our series of videos on the care and maintenance of the corn snake. They really are ideal animals. If you are thinking of having a pet, I invite you to subscribe because the content is really going to be wonderful. We will soon continue to make content referring to what they feed on, how often they shed their skin, all these things that I am sure you are wondering. Finally, I would like to tell you, please remember we are looking for a name. Leave me a comment with the name that you think would suit this wonderful corn snake.
