Your Cat Sheds a Lot of Hair in this video by an animal expert, we explain everything you need to know about cat shedding. Let's get started. What is cat shedding? It involves the renewal of the covering that surrounds an animal's skin. In cats, shedding consists of the renewal of their fur to make way for the new one that is growing internally. It is a normal and necessary process. If they did not do it, it would be a problem, and if they do it excessively and even areas without hair appear, it could indicate that the cat has a problem that requires veterinary attention. When do cats shed their hair? Cat Cats shed hair throughout the year, but it is true that there are two seasons that stand out. These seasons are the spring and autumn months. In spring, shedding is much more intense, accounting for up to half of the change they make during the year. This is because they shed a large part of their hair to change it for thinner hair to better withstand the heat. In autumn, the opposite occurs. Shedding involves shedding these fine hairs and replacing them with thicker hairs to prepare them to withstand the coldest months of the year. The first shedding of hair occurs between five and eight months of age. From that moment on, a baby cat begins to shed its coat and disso until it reaches its maximum growth and development. Risks of Shedding in Cats in principle, a natural and healthy shedding should not cause problems. The problem that a high shedding of hair in a cat can cause is from its shedding. We all see how our cat grooms itself more than once a day and can swallow a lot of hair that ends up in its digestive system. After passing through the stomach, it reaches the intestine where it can accumulate and form hairballs. These balls can partially or completely obstruct intestinal transit. Find out more about hairballs in cats in the video that we have included in the card. Due to this problem, it is important that we maintain frequent care of our cat's hair during the shedding season. This care should be carried out even more frequently and will consist of the first. First brushing during the year, they should be brushed frequently with a special brush for cats, at least twice a week for short haired cats and twice as often for long haired cats. During the shedding season, it should be done at least every two days for short haired cats and every day for long haired cats. This, in addition to promoting blood circulation which will make the coat stronger and healthier, will drag away dead hair and prevent the cat from ingesting it. Second bathing during washing the cat, a lot of dead hair will be dragged away very effectively and will later be removed by brushing. Ideally, a kitten should be accustomed to this from a young age so that it is not a very stressful or traumatic moment. If your cat becomes hysterical when it sees water, it is best not to bathe it and work with it to ensure that it ends up associating this moment with a positive experience. To do this, we recommend the video that we have included in the card. 3. Catnip Giving your cat this product at least twice a day during this time can help prevent the formation of hairballs to encourage their ingestion. If they don't like it very much, you can put a little on one of their front paws or on their nose as this will make them lick the area to clean themselves and ingest it. 4. Catnip Some cats find this herb very attractive and ingest it to purge themselves. If this is the case with your cat, you can try giving it to them during this time of year and thus improve their intestinal transit by regurgitating accumulated hair that can end up forming a hairball. If, after learning all these details about hair shedding in cats you think that your cat's hair loss is not normal, it is best to go to the vet to have them examined.
