This is a YouTube video titled "Pitón de la India - Consejos básicos" created in July 2012, featuring a single speaker named Nuria who provides detailed information about the Ptormalis albina species, including physical characteristics, habitat needs, and care tips for keeping these exotic animals in captivity. The content is educational and focused on reptile care.
We are at the Desert Habitats facilities. My name is Nuria and we are going to introduce you to the Ptormalis albina. As you can see, this is a male weighing around 10-12 kg. These animals are found throughout Southeast Asia. They are usually born at birth at around 40 to 50 centimeters. And there is a lot of dimorphism between females and males since the females are ones who lay the eggs. An adult specimen can reach between 4.5 and 6 centimeters in height and a female and a male between 3 and 4 and 5 meters in height. As adults they can weigh around 90 kilograms. In captivity, if they are in the right environment, they can live between 20 and 30 years. These animals correct temperature is between 25 and 28 and the ambient temperature can be lowered to 23. The humidity they need is between 50 and 60%. Especially during the molting season. It has to be raised to 70 to 75%. As you can see. Well, this one is not going away at all and I don't know what to do with it, but it weighs a lot. The UVA that these animals need, in theory they don't need, but it never hurts them is 2.0. They have to have photoperiods of 12 hours with the lights on and 12 hours off. Okay. The terrariums for these animals above all have to be long and deep. Never hide because they are animals that are always stretched out on the floor. The force they can exert is very strong. As you can see here, between two people we can barely stop them. Thank you for watching these videos. I hope they have been helpful when it comes to keeping exotic animals in captivity.
