There are a wide variety of plants that you can offer your rabbit, whether they are available at the supermarket or wild plants that you can grow in your garden or gather. In this video from an animal expert, we bring you a guide to plants that rabbits can eat. Let's see which ones they are. First, Roots it's no secret that rabbits love carrots, as they have always been associated with them in popular culture. However, it is essential to know that roots such as carrots, parsnips, turnips and beets are foods with a high sugar content. Therefore, in addition to providing them with a lot of energy, they increase the risk of suffering from obesity, diseases associated with being overweight, colic and stomach bloating. For this reason, it is best to offer them a very small portion from time to time, not daily. You can even offer them as a treat. Above, we are going to leave you a video in which we explain everything A Rabbit should eat two Stems and Leaves it is highly recommended to add green stems and leaves to your rabbit's diet on a daily and varied basis. Unlike fruits or roots that store all the sugar and should be given occasionally, stems and leaves have a very low caloric intake and are high in fiber. This will benefit your furry friend's digestive health, also providing the nutrients their body needs. In addition, many of the vegetables that you can give your rabbit are disposable parts that would normally be thrown away since humans do not eat them because they are too fibrous or tough for your rabbit. Instead, they will be very beneficial and your rabbit will love them. Among the plants that you can offer daily are root leaves such as carrot or radish, endive, arugula, lamb's lettuce, watercress and lettuce, although it should never be of the iceberg variety. On the other hand, plants that you can offer occasionally, that is once or twice a week, are celery, broccoli, endives, chard, spinach, cauliflower, artichokes, red cabbage, asparagus and celery. It is also possible to offer your rabid, dehydrated food, but this should be given in small proportions mixed with fresh food. This is because when food is dehydrated, the amount of water is reduced and it has a higher concentration of nutrients among which sugars stand out. Therefore, dried fruits and vegetables contain more calories and are not recommended in excess. Find out how many times a rabbit should eat per day in the video on the card. 3. Wild herbs the diet of a rabbit in the wild is essentially made up of herbs and weeds from fields, forests, and mountains. This explains why your rabbit should eat an unlimited amount of grass, usually fescue. Now, a good idea to enrich your rabbit's environment is to offer it other varieties of herbs, which you can buy in stores, gather them, or even grow yourself if you have a garden. If you collect them from the countryside, try to be careful with the environment. Cut the plant without uprooting it so that it grows back. Also, make sure that the plants you collect come from areas free of contamination. Finally, always wash them before giving them to your rabbit, otherwise they could get poisoned. Likewise, do not collect grass from parks and areas where other animals usually urinate and defecate. The plants that you can offer your rabbit are mint, peppermint, rosemary, sage, thyme, njoy, cilantro, parsley, basil, and clover, among others.
