Poda y Mantenimiento del Acuaterrario 🌿 | Cuidados para un Ecosistema Equilibrado | KIWOKO

This is a YouTube video titled "Poda y Mantenimiento del Acuaterrario 🌿 | Cuidados para un Ecosistema Equilibrado | KIWOKO" created in March 2025. The content features a single speaker discussing the maintenance and pruning of their aquaterrarium, including water condition analysis, plant trimming, filter cleaning, and care for aquatic animals like frogs and axolotls. The speaker shares personal experiences and practical tips for keeping the ecosystem balanced.
Foreign well, today it's time to get our beloved and forgotten aquadirarium ready. It's been with me for over five years and the truth is that between so many projects, I've been neglecting it and neglecting it, and the poor thing is, as you can see, it's completely wild. Today I want to do a big pruning, cleaning, water change, in other words, a tune up so that I can see my beloved littorias again, which are these huge, super pretty green Australian frogs. Also, so that I can appreciate the two axolotls a little better, remember that I have one in the nominal phase and one in the albino phase. And I want to make some additions, some movement of the rocks to really be able to restore the beauty of my aqua terrarium. Well, when facing a major maintenance, whether it's of an aquarium or a terrarium, it's important to analyze the water conditions. In this case, I've been analyzing the water conditions and the pH is at 7.6, the carbonates are a little low, they're at 4, the ammonia is 0, the nitrites are 0, and the nitrates are over 10, which means that I'm going to have to do water changes. And I'm also going to have to do some pruning, quite a big one, because as you can see, the plants aren't allowing the light to enter the aquatic part. And this is decimating my plants that were in the submerged part of the aqua terrarium. This is basically going to be the summary of what I'm going to do today. A big pruning on the top, a water change and a filter cleaning. With all this, I'm going to be able to reactivate the aquaterarium and everything will be fine. So that later on I can introduce new plants and perhaps new animals. Let's open it up here. Foreign. Let's place the lighting system properly. And as you can see, this is what I call good vegetation. I'm going to start pruning. I have to be very careful and I want to go from this corner to the other corner. Why? Because I have the two frogs here inside and I don't want to accidentally cut them. And since I have to use the machete, I mean the scissors, I have to give myself some life. Look, I found the female. She's sleeping here. So peaceful. Wow. This had been at least six to eight months since I had any pruning. And what I'm seeing is incredible. I'm going to take advantage, as you can see, and redirect some of the plants so they keep growing. And look how much light is coming in. And I've only done this part of the pruning. Incredible. Wow. Rookie mistake. How are you? With so many plants and me being in a bit of a hurry, I counted and cut the sensor that gives me the temperature and humidity readings. Uh, what a shame. I'm going to have to get one. Always remember to do maintenance. Do it calmly and please don't let this happen. This growth is driving me crazy. Well, I've reached this point. It's a shame. I had these super pretty ferns and of course with the overgrowth, they're dying on me. I'm going to prune them and prepare them so that we can have them looking good again. I'm going to take advantage of the one I'm pruning. I'm also going to shape some of these plants. This plant in particular tends to grow very nicely if you shape it a certain way. And here I'll hold it with a cable tie for a while. I'm going to start collecting them. Look at the amount of plants that are going into the water. As you can see, the effect is radical. I've pruned as low as I can without obviously affecting the growth of the plants. These are going to grow. Don't worry. But this was what I needed. So that you can later observe the effect of the lighting on the bottom. We can now see what's happening down here. Remember, this is an aquater terrarium. The two environments have to be able to see each other without any problem. What a beating I've given myself. And there's still some left. Now it's time to clean the filter and I can tell you that it's going to take me a while. As you can see, the aquaterarium is filling with previously dechlorinated water. But the effect is already noticeable. It was necessary. The plants are now allowing light to enter the aquatic part. So I hope the plants, the few plants that are left, will start to grow. I insist a cleaning like this shouldn't be left for too long. I apologize, but since I have so many open projects, this one was falling behind. If you have any comments, leave them. I'm here to help. And I'll ask you this question. Are you more of a frog or axolotl person? Yes.
