¿Por qué a los gatos NO LES GUSTA que le toquen la panza?

Why cats hate belly touches, even though they show their stomachs. It's about feline body language and respecting what cats actually want, not what their exposed bellies seem to invite.
Most cats, although there are some exceptions, are particularly reluctant to have their belly area handled, even showing aggressive behaviors that include biting and scratching. These are not isolated cases. Many felines hate it when we touch their bellies. Your cat doesn't seem to like it either. Find out why at Animal Expert. Why won't my cat let us touch its belly? Aside from sleeping, grooming itself or playing, our felines love being petted, especially on the nape of the neck or back. However, they don't seem to like it as much when we try to pet their belly. Why does this happen? The situation usually develops like this. The cat stretches out lazily, turns on its back and lets us touch its belly until it bites or scratches. Then we wonder what happened, why it doesn't like it, and how we can fix it. Contrary to what many guardians tend to believe, when a cat lies on its back, it is not inviting us to pet it, but rather it is a position that indicates friendliness, well being or relaxation. Our feline is trying to tell us that it feels comfortable and calm by our side, something totally positive. But it does not mean that it wants us to touch it. When our cat understands that we have ignored that this position is not an insult, it begins to show other signs, typical of the species that once again go unnoticed by us humans. We are talking about ears back, accompanied by a flattened body, moving movements or stiffness. As we do not stop, the cat flattens its ears more and more. It makes restless movements with its tail and may even show its hair standing on end while scratching and biting us. For us, it has been completely unexpected. But our cat knows that we have been warned. Furthermore, we must understand that the belly is one of the most vulnerable parts of a cat's body. Despite having been domesticated for centuries, they maintain certain behaviors from their wildlife. For this reason, they tend to have a strong survival instinct, paying attention to potential predators, even if they do not exist within the home. In fact, the main organs are located under the belly, and the cat knows that by showing them is completely vulnerable. This is another reason why cats do not like to have their bellies petted. Unlike dogs, we must avoid touching their bellies. We must understand that each individual has a unique personality. While some cats like to have their bellies touched, others will be totally offended by being handled. For this reason, it is very important that we inform ourselves about cat communication and that, in addition, we make an effort to know the tastes and character of our feline. Where can I pet a cat? In addition to the belly, many owners also wonder why cats don't like having their paws or tails touched well, once again we must emphasize that even though animals lie down pleasantly next to us, that does not mean that they want to be handled much less excessively. Instead, we can opt for petting the areas that cats generally accept most, such as the chin, head, head, nape and back. We should also massage them gently, pay attention to their body language and accept that if they don't want to continue, they can leave our side. Although most cats like to be petted, practically none of them like it when we make an effort to stay by our side while petting them. They should have the freedom to leave at any time and express that they don't like something, thus fulfilling one of the five freedoms of animal welfare. And that's it for today's video.
