¿Por qué los GATOS prefieren a las MUJERES? 😻♀️ | Lo que dice la ciencia 🤖

This is a YouTube video titled "¿Por qué los GATOS prefieren a las MUJERES? 😻♀️ | Lo que dice la ciencia 🤖" featuring a monologue by Carlos, a clinical veterinarian, discussing scientific studies about why cats tend to prefer women over men. The video explores cat behavior, human interaction styles, and personality traits influencing feline preferences, clarifying misconceptions from internet articles. The content is educational and presented in Spanish.
If you're a man, I'm sorry your cat doesn't love you. And if you're a woman, congratulations, your cat prefers you. Cat flaps. Cat flaps, sure. Hi, I'm Carlos, a clinical veterinarian at Small Animals. Welcome to the Happy Pets and Families Channel Today. Above all, welcome. I'm going to tell you a little bit about where this video comes from. The other day, Jose was browsing the Internet and he read a news story that said, hey, look how interesting. Cats prefer women. And I was like, but how can that be? Let's see, is there any scientific basis or is the person writing the article making it up? I thought that all this was a load of crap. But anyway, driven by my research urge, I started searching the Internet to see if there was a scientific study that supported it. And I have to tell you that yes, there is. But wait, because you're probably freaking out like I was. Let's see if there's any truth to all this. As I always tell you when we talk about any scientific study, I'll leave it down below in the description box so that if you don't believe me, go ahead and take a look. The fact is that there's a study where they evaluated how cats interacted. They were European cats, they lived in Vienna, Austria, and they saw what kind of relationships or what kind of interrelationships they had with their human companions. They basically evaluated it by how they responded to their human companions companions and what kind of reactions, affection or love they showed towards them. They basically started looking at five reactions, which were, for example, the cat rubbing its cheeks against its human, or rubbing its back or wrapping its tail around the human's legs. Well, in short, what cats do to show us that they love us, the fact is that cats did it more with people who were female. Furthermore, the sex of the cat, or even the personality of the kitty had practically no influence. The thing, and this was what surprised me the most, is that this was not the first time it had been described. When I was investigating, there had already been other studies that had shown that cats reacted more to women. Why do cats react this way? Do they fall in love with their humans? Well, no, it has nothing to do with it. Women generally tended to be more attentive in their first contact with cats. They would approach them, talk to them, and cats like that, after all. And men, however, had a slightly more distant relationship. They did not get as close to them, they did not talk to them from a distance. And so the cat noticed that too. In 2005, another study was done that showed that women spent more time with cats, that they were more affectionate with them, and men were less affectionate and spent less time with them. Okay, well, once you can deduce something, you'll start to realize where this is going, of course, and the key is how we relate to cats. Here I began to realize that the headline that Jose read to me, which was not from a scientific journal but from an Internet article, was a bit clickbait, because the study actually said that the behavior shown by women was what was leading cats to react in a certain way, not because they were women per se. And that could also be a cultural fact. I mean, many times women or men behave in a certain way based on culture and all the feedback we've received. Cats respond to behavior or what they perceive, not to sex hormones or anything like that. But at this point, I was already getting all curious, and I kept investigating and I kept reading the scientific study. The study, not the Internet article that Jose had read, which wasn't scientific or anything. It was simply there to get you to click. The study also mentioned something very interesting, which is that there are certain personality traits in people that obviously influence how our cats see us. For example, there is a personality trait which is related to human psychology, not animal psychology, which is neuroticism or something like that, because it is a translation from English. I don't really know anything about human psychology, but. Well, the study mentioned it a little bit. And it has to do with people who feel a great need to be on top of the animals or people around them. And that, in the case of cats, is counterproductive to our cat wanting to get close to us. In other words, if you pester your cat too much, it is normal for them not to prefer you and to prefer other humans who leave them a little more to their own devices. That is why in relationships with felines, it is very important to let them make the first move and approach you, because if not, they feel overwhelmed, they feel social stress and prefer to avoid you and be on their own. Are you obsessed with. And right now you might be like, look, I don't understand anything. We said at the beginning that women talked to cats earlier, that they paid them a little more attention, like they interacted with cats earlier, and that's why they preferred them. And I'm also telling you that interacting too much with cats is counterproductive and that cats prefer other people who leave them a little more to their own devices. What is it? I mean, what do we have to stick to the difference is in the attention you give to the cat. It's more important that in order for your cat to perceive you as someone affable, you don't take up too much of his personal space. Well, yes, insistently go after him, wanting to pet him and want to be on top of him. Because it is possible that at point some.
