Hello and welcome to Animal Expert. Today, Korpitit is the star of this new video in which we will explain what happens when a kitten doesn't want to eat. Your cat doesn't want to eat, nor does it seem to want to drink water. Sometimes we notice that our cats have a lack of appetite, and although it may not be anything, it could mean that something is wrong. There are many causes that can lead to this change in our feline's behavior, and we can find reasons that range from very simple to serious complications that should be treated by a veterinarian. Before we begin, it is important to note that anorexia in cats is one of the first clinical signs of several diseases. For this reason, it is important not to ignore this behavior and try to find the cause that is causing it. Baby cats or kittens need special attention. Their immune system is much weaker and they tend to become dehydrated more easily if they stop drinking fluids. In addition, they are also usually more sensitive to changes in diet, so it is important to supervise that they eat whenever we modify their diet. When faced with a kitten that refuses to eat, it is always advisable to stimulate it with wet food, even mixing it with warm water to provide extra hydration. This type of food is much more noticeable and is better accepted than dry food. If a kitten has not eaten anything at all in 24 hours, this is cause for concern and an urgent veterinary visit is required. Also, remember that baby cats need to be fed between four and eight times a day. So if a newborn cat has not received food in 12 hours, you should also go to the vet. Remember that some cats stop eating when they change their food. Therefore, if you have recently changed your best friend's diet, you should assess whether they do not want to eat for this reason. It is also important to keep in mind that the water and litter box should be kept away from their food. In addition, hairballs poisoning, depression and various illnesses are other causes that can cause them to stop eating. In this situation. It will also be essential to assess the cat's vital signs and symptoms of illness through a general physical examination. Here's how to do it. Check your cat's mucus membranes around the gums, eyes, genitals and anus. If they're any color other than pale pink, start worrying. Shades of white, blue, yellow or red are signs of illness. Get a digital thermometer to take your cat's temperature, which is done in the same way as a dog's. It should be between 38 and 39 degrees Celsius take your cat's pulse with your index and middle fingers, although it's worth noting that this may be a bit tricky. The heart rate should be between 140 and 200 beats per minute. Check their breathing rate by placing your hand on their belly. Cats Normally breathe between 20 and 42 times per minute. Felines don't usually show signs of illness as clearly as other animals. For this reason, here are some common symptoms of if any of your cat's vital signs are altered and you also notice symptoms of illness, don't hesitate to go to the emergency vet as soon as possible, calling them beforehand to make sure they can see you and to receive instructions if necessary. The first thing you should do if a cat doesn't want to eat or drink for many hours a day is to try to stimulate them with very tasty food such as canned or homemade food. You probably know of a food that your cat can't resist. Try offering it to them and see if they eat it or not. Some extra tricks can be heating up the food or replacing the water with chicken or fish broth, of course, without salt or onion to nourish them while hydrating them. If it seems that your cat is eating their favorite food and accepting water, you may have a depressed or hot cat. In any case, if you haven't been able to identify the reason why your cat isn't eating, call your vet to explain the situation. They will tell you how to proceed and based on their assessment, what procedure to follow. Thank you very much for watching this video. I hope you enjoyed seeing Korpedit again. Greetings and see you in the next video. Until next time, experts.
