Hi, I'm Jordy Ferrayz. I'm also known as a cat educator. Today I'm going to talk to you about a topic that is of great concern, which is inappropriate urination. That is cats that urinate or defecate outside the litter box. This type of problem is some type of psychological protest. In rare cases, it will be a physical ailment. If we think that our cat may have a physical ailment, such as crystals in the urine that can be detected with very dark urine or blood, you can tell because the cat protests when it's time to go to the litter box, has a hard time and goes around in circles. Then you should go to the vet to have an analysis done, which will surely give us a quick remedy because this is very common and well known. If it's not something physical, which is most of the time, we will have a cat that is protesting. Protesting on one or more levels. There won't be just one reason why a cat urinates outside the litter box, but there will be many. It will be a combination of things. That cat in that house has a whole series of things that it lacks and others that it has too much of. And you have to know how to detect what they are and try to remove and replace what interests you. I will tell you some of the most common reasons why a cat can do things outside the litter box. We will not count on the litter box being dirty. Everyone notices that the litter box is very dirty. The cat does things outside. This is obvious. It is clear, and you do not need any type of expert to explain this to you. But what happens when my cat has a clean litter box and my cat does things outside? Hem. It will almost never be because of the type of litter. It will almost never be because of the type of litter box. Although it is true that sometimes there are cats that do not like going into a covered litter box. There may be cats that do not like a specific type of litter, and there are all types. Perhaps none is more recommendable than the other, because from my experience, I have seen that there are all kinds of cats that use all kinds of litters and there are no problems whatsoever. Let's find the one that our cat likes or the one that works for us and that's it. What could lead a cat to do missions outside? Well, the most common and normal thing is cats that need more contact with this and don't have it. In other words, cats that spend many hours alone. In other words, cats that get bored. Yes, yes. So cats that get Bored at home, or cats that have spent many hours alone, and when they arrive home, it happens to them. A bit like this cat who not only asks us, but also demands that we play, move, bite, play with a string, or whatever it takes. If I dedicate my time to it, I will surely be able to solve the problem. If I come home tired and don't feel like spending time with my cat, or I'm with him, but not for as long as he'd like, that's when I might run into problems. Another common problem is with cats. Cats that don't get along with other cats or animals in the house, so the stress they cause might lead them to do things outside the litter box. There are also cats that complain about a diet that they consider insufficient, especially when it comes to restrictions. Cats don't need to have food restrictions. Cats need to have food and a willingness to eat, because the vast majority of cats will regulate themselves. A cat that has to wait until certain times to eat again is a stressed cat and therefore may go on missions outside the home. There are also cats that like human food or canned food and sometimes stop having can also cause them a bit of stress. Knowing that this type of food exists and that he doesn't have it and won't eat it. Ah. Another thing that stresses cats and causes them problems is barriers in the house. Cats don't like closed doors. Cats like to go anywhere, climb anywhere, on any bed, any sofa, and get into closets. There are people who penalize them for certain places in the house, and that makes the cat nervous. And consequently they do things outside the litter box. A great place for the cat is our room, the bed where we sleep. They love to sleep with us and get into the bed. We shouldn't prohibit them from sleeping with us, and we should lock them up somewhere in the house when we sleep. Another very important place is the one we have outside. The ones that have a terrace, the ones that have a patio, a garden. It's very important that the cat uses it. If there is a risk that the cat will fall, have an accident, or escape, it should be covered with some type of mesh rope or whatever invention is available. And also install a cat flap so that the cat has access day and night, rain or snow. Therefore, let's remember that it is important that a cat, so to speak, does whatever it wants. See you in the next video. Sa.
